Windscreen/mirror clip

Just had a new windscreen fitted by National Windscreen and the front screen came with a metal clip bonded onto the screen to accept the mirror. Now i know this is wrong for our year of car ( i think), but i dropped my mirror the other day and broke it anyway. My question is what year of car mirror do i need to get to fit this metal clip? Thanks
