I had some hot start problems en France.
After a long run, switch off, heat soak, eh voila, no start.
It seems possible it could be coil or CDI.
Once cool (only a few minutes) it works again.
Maybe it's a coil fault (cheaper than another CDI box!).
You've got me thinking now...

Real ggod guy came out spent a while then towed me in , felt complete pratt having told him new coil so it must be CDI!!!

I had an ignition problem at Le Mans. Haynes manual says the resistance across the 2 pins should be 0.4 ohms. I was only getting 0.1 ohm. Changed it twice for other people's spares who also read 0.1 ohm. Checked Will's car which worked fine - also 0.1 Ohm. So. if you're checking them with an ohmeter, bear in mind that the Haynes book seems to be wrong.
Uncannily Vic, I was there around that time. Didn;t spot you or I'd have stopped, believe it or not I had one of the spares with me!

Brendan had this problem at CLM after stopping at teh supermarket. It was eventually worked out it was the points. New set of points & car started 1st time
We actually think the original points had closed up & needed readjusting, but Brendan replaceed them just to make sure

We think mine was caused by oil and crud that had accumulated in the dizzie being vapourised by the heat of the blast down to LM, probably the hottest and longest the car's got for 10 odd years. There was a thin film of grease over the points which didn't stop them sparking when we tested them but caused enough resistance when closed to interrupt the signal to the CDI. I'm going to carry a spare coil and points, rotor and a couple of leads from now on. Anyone got a spare CDI?

We may all have different problems, but the boys took the coil off a dead car, put a spare on it fired and has nt stopped running since ..........other than looking at the points 2000 miles ago and rotor arm about 7000, not touched today at all.............i rest my cas M'Lud

Paul, sounds like fuel vaporisation perhaps rather than electrics?

I think Paul's problem may be with the cold start solenoid but I am having in at the week end to check it out and I will report our findings.
Viv, is your motor MFI or CIS?
Vic, I have bought new Bosch coils recently, proudly stamped "made in Brazil"
