Having tried eveything I got fed up with my bonnet popping open so forked out for a new striker mechanism (£111+VAT), I checked the adjustment was the same as mine, fitted it, closed the bonnet and now it's stuck
Any suggestions?

there was a post on this subject a while ago now, but I cant seem to find it  I had the same problem and overcame it by having someone press down firmly on the front edge of the bonnet while I pulled at the catch.

You could also try pushing the bonnet down and trying to move it slightly from side to side at the same time as some keeps pressure on the bonnet pull cable.

I think this is the thread that Lewis was talking about.

I seem to remember that someone said that a method similar to JohnS worked but also lifting one corner of the bonnet as well. Be gentle though as I can't find the thread to confirm this. I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone damaging their bonnet! :?

Once open it is very easy to sort this problem out..

Nick Moss knows how to open bonnets when they are like this and when my mate helped me he did the same.. he was faceing the car and he was working on the left side of the car..

He pushed or pulled just that one edge and then it opened..

Be carefull this is advice and not a how to do it.. ( legal and all that stuff )

any help you need about the pin aline ment PM me..

Basically try applying pressure to help the pin move. The pin is not central and is stuck on one side of the hole in the latch. Try from the sides (bottom corner), and also from the front in a push down and away movement. Keep trying, if you can get it to release a little you may then be able to unbolt the top section of the latch away from the bonnet.

Good luck and lets hope it opens

Many thanks everyone I'm going to try these techniques tomorrow, I suspect though that part of the mechanism that you lift with your fingers is not welded on entirley straight and that may be making it stuck. Hopefully I'll get it open and post a pic of what I mean!
Thanks,
Alan.

Hope you got yr bonnet open!!
Having had the same thing - and got it open I connected a thin wire to the bonnet catch pull and ran it out through one of the bodywork holes so that it comes out under the n/s wing. If the bonnet catch locks down again I can, at least, find the wire under the wing and give it a pull. Worth while doing till, at least, you are really sure that you have the bonnet catch and pull wire set up correctly. Make sure you keep it away from the electrics/battery!
