Hi
I asked this question a few year ago, i just thought id test the water again

.
Has anybody considered making the door bins made from fibre glass. I started making some moulds from wood, thats as far as i got

.
The only problems i could see are
1) the chrome trim
2) the finish of the bins
Would anybody consider buying these types of bins without the chrome trim or fabric finish?.
Any help/advice would be appreciated
Cheers
Nick

I remember your post, and have thought of doing the same, but never got further than the thought! I would be interested in your 'blanks'. Surely they could be covered with a vinyl that would come close to matching. Not sure about the chrome trim though. Please keep me in the loop.

I made my own a few years ago.
I had aluminium bins fabricated and I covered them with vinyl that is available from Southbound and Woolies. I used a plastic chrome running strip that I obtained from woolies too. For the corner pieces, I recycled corner pieces from an old pair of pockets.
I definitely think there would be a market for a "kit" set. I looked into it too but finding the time to get it going was alway trouble !
Happy to post photo's if anyone is interested.

Yes I could be interested. I've just posted a question on where to fit door speakers. Local specialist suggested mounting them in the front bins. I don't want to cut my originals but I could fit them into some fibre glass bins and use my original chrome strip and recover them - which I don't think is too much of a problem.

I certainly would be interested, there is a guy in the US that is doing it for the early pockets and is charging 599 USD for basically a completed pull out pocket with no hardware.
