I'm having a blond moment

where can i find the engine number on my car?
I have the chassis number 9112100786

The engine number is to the lower right of the fan, stamped on the alu just above a nut and a sensor. Further to the right hand side is the oil feed which either exits/enters the engine. Hope you can follow my description.

According to the Porsche Book, the motor is from a 1971 911T. 140HP.
Model year may have been a 1972.

Sounds spot on to me

The car is (i Believe) a 1972 T/E 2.4 911 US spec running MFI so 140 BHP sounds bang on the money.

It sounds like you got the engine that was orignally delivered in the car when it was new. Do you have any details of where the car was originally sold, and to whom? I think this info is available from Porsche for some fee.

I've sent my money of to Stutgart via Reading to get hold of both a "letter of Origin" and a "original Spec sheet" so hopefully I shoujd learn far more. The car was brought from the US, Staten Island to be exact, butI'd like to know if it was delivered there new and to whome.

just done this myself . Got a letter of Origin back that was cool & found out my car is a matching numbers car ( still has original engine) . They did not supply an original spec sheet though, so I have had to chase them up on that & its is meant to be getting sorted

I probably should get one for my car, but I have the full service history. All of the receits are in, with the exception of the yellow paint. Don't know why that was not included.

My car was sold in Chicago, and was through a few winters beginning in January 1969.

Mike, your car was purchased from a chap whom got it from either his farther or family friend. Have you tried to contact him?

Contact Porsche customer services, Reading (sorry, don't have the number handy). You need to pay about £65 for the info

it's £64.62 per item, ie 2 cheques made payable to porsche for a letter of origin and a original spec sheet. You need to send them a copy of your V5 and contact details.
