Massively envious! I think your project is going to be head and shoulders above mine Darren! ImageImage🫣

Of course that's complete nonsense Matt; everyone has their own take on what they like and what makes a great build and if that means quilted leather engine sound pads and a bling interior or something a little more period then good for them either way.....one thing for sure is your car is going to be absoluetly awesome and being built just perfectly imo 8) 8) 8)

Just wish you'd catch up a bit!

Cheers,

Looking great Darren. Attention to detail is, as usual, off the scale.

Darren, you are disgusting.........
With your Blue images and such Porsche porn.
Absolute filth,
but I do love it, as Dick Emory used to say.

Lovely work as usual,
Karl

Cheers Guys :)

A little update from Nick Fulljames at Redtek and steady progress with the engine build with new Mahle pots and pistons installed and heads now fully built up and fitted 8) ...

...another important piece of the engine build kindly supplied by Nick are these cam towers....not looking quite as sexy (yet) these will be media blasted and machined prior to fitting....

Image

...the 3.0 RSR engine has 47mm 4 journal cam carrier however the size of these changed to 49mm later on with my Carrera 3.0 engine being one of the first engines to see this change...I could have used my original cam towers and fitted RSR spec or similar 49mm camshafts to suit however when I was lucky enough to acquire original RSR cams it meant I had to change my carriers...

...fortunately all 2.7 G-series engines (74-76) had 47mm cams, albeit with 3 journals however the carriers, possibly due to Porsche using up existing stock, had 4 journals with one journal not machined for oil flow. This means it's a fairly straightforward task of machining the unused journal to effectively make it RSR spec and suitable for the original RSR centre feed cams :) ....

It's been a busy few weeks although not quite in the direction I would have hoped....

....on the engine front the cam carriers cleaned up nicely, were duly machined and fitted...

Image

Image

....not always the case with RSR engines which have been heavily modified over the years however we decided on magnesium chain cases to be more 74 period correct as the aluminium cases followed a little later....

....build wise we hit a snag when Gary came to fit the larger oil tank so the car was collected and came back to the bodyshop for a little remedial work....
