I suppose I’m a philistine but I cannot get to like 356s, I’m 66 so maybe too young. They seem a funny shape and slow even by cars only ten years younger. And they have that putt putt putt sound.

Such a lovely car, must’ve been a very tough decision for Jeremy.

You like my 914s sound- which is basically the same!
This is my absolute perfect 356. Would take it off Jeremy in a flash- but do not have the readies to do so"…….
Far nicer car then a red GT3 that you have owned before IMO!

Looking at the cars you own, I guess that outright performance is the most important aspect of Porsche ownership for you. Speaking as a 67 year old youngster, for me the great pleasure in driving a 356 is in its delicacy - it may not have the ballistic performance of a GT3 RS or similar, but on today’s roads I derive more pleasure from driving a slower car fast than I ever derive from being forced to drive a fast car slowly. It’s all personal taste, of course, but thanks to my chosen career I’ve been privileged to drive many different Porsches, from Pre-A 356s to highly modified Turbos and the likes of GT3 RSs. I’m always happy to hand back the keys to the latter as they are neither practical road cars or the race cars they often pretend to be. A well turned out 356, on the other hand, is an absolute delight in every respect. Slow, maybe, but oh so rewarding. But then I love my Renault 4 as well!

I'm with Clive, that 356 to me is simply spot-on.
Not sure I could live with the speed, but it would be so nice to tailor your day to a relaxed experience.
Maybe at 69 I'm just right for such a car.

You can still cruise a 356 at 70-80mph...

As the 356 Registry article said.....

"It's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than drive a fast car slow "

I've had a lot of 356's, fantastic cars !
