I think that’s really quite expensive. A friend of mine bought a lovely Sepia 911T from Ashgoods which turned out to be very solid and original for around the same money. No hassle with importing etc, and usable straight away or as the basis of a project.

I wouldn’t touch the blue car with a bargepole!

I really miss ‘machining wi Sladey’. Do you remember that? I’ve got a Myford now and am messing around but I wondered how he was getting on?
It’s very enjoyable and satisfying.

Yes I’ve still got the Colchester student. However I moved house a year ago so currently all my energy has been put into converting outbuildings for garaging, metalwork and woodwork. To gain brownie points along the way I’ve also built 12 raised beds out of sleepers.

I’ve installed a flush lift in the main barn which is very exciting. Got the power sockets all connected yesterday and today I start on the lighting.

So Im intending to get back to machining but it’s quite a way down the list at the moment.

As you say it’s very rewarding - even if most of what I made was tools for the lathe

I get the sense they’re starting to. I’m on the hunt for a specific car model, the same dozen or so have been for sale for 6+ months, all unsold.

It feels like the ‘normal’ car market is still a bit silly but further up the ladder a lot of stuff is sticking, especially if it’s older. Almost like the more well-off buyers over 35, who remember what a recession smells like, are holding back.

Agree. A friend of a friend bought a silver 993 GT2 from DK Engineering a little while ago and listed the car on CC last week. He was looking to get his money back but car failed to make reserve (by a six figure sum) so he's hanging on to it now.
