Dumped it in a garage in Belgium after hitting a big fuckoff aluminium beam on the autoroute and shearing the fuel lines.

It's in a small village called Defynnog just south off Sennybridge near Brecon.

We did. It could have been so much worse, and my choices were hit it or swerve into a curtainsider. It's getting recovered in the week, and we're doing the rest of our holiday in a 1 series hired at midnight last night from Luxembourg airport. Currently in Avignon, absolutely shattered. But alive, uninjured, and it can be fixed.

Pleased to hear it - enjoy the remainder of the trip. Look on the bright side - you will have new fuel lines and won’t need to worry about ethanol breakdown for years.

Hopefully no other damage

Ran the 911 in the Shelsley Walsh Nostalgia hillclimb this weekend.

Utterly fabulous meeting. Several DDK people there too which was nice.

The car was great and I loved every one of the 7 runs we had, forgotten what a car it is, just VERY slow.



Even hit the advertising for the event;

Drove the 914 for the first time with new the Tangerine Racing gear linkage spherical bulkhead bush and the Rennshifter from JWest. I've also fitted (almost) solid front engine mounts from JWest and Powerflex 'black' transmission mounts. Took a few minutes to adjust the shifter but my goodness, what an incredible difference! Noise/vibration levels are noticeably higher inside the car due to the considerably more rigid engine and trans mounts, but these combined with the new shifter have made gear changes so much more precise.

Also did the hateful job of checking/adjusting the valve clearances, taking advantage of the two-post lift that I have access to at a friend's 'communal' workshop. It's a bit of a nightmare with the GT Racing exhaust system as access to the valve covers etc is somewhat restricted, but the job's done for now. Setting them all at zero lash does make the job slightly easier... (I know many people express horror at the thought of zero lash, but it's a well-trodden path for air-cooled VW engines when using chrome-moly pushrods as they expand at a different rate to the factory aluminium ones. Been doing it for over forty years without problem.)

Poly bushed my 911's mounts many years ago when hillclimbing it.
They stopped all the drive train shaking about on hard starts and also improved the gear shifting accuracy.
Thinking of putting them back in!

On a very different note:

Still trying to find the source of a humming in the rear of the Boxster and tried the car on different wheels/tyres yesterday, kind loan from a fellow PCGB Boxster owner.
Made no difference at all.

Now a 4 year long issue, and wearing very thin.

Looks like wheel bearing next...
