What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

I fitted new 50 idle jets down from 55. Not as fiddly as i thought they were going to be.

Took it for a mixed road 50 mile drive and the difference is night n day. Will check the plugs after it cools down to check the burn. Oil pressure was as it should be.

Idle jets would only effect the idle circuit, unless changing the jet has cleared something else in the circuit, as this would not effect drivability further up the rev range?

The improvement came about by way of not cutting out when decelerating. Such as junctions, lights and roundabouts. They made a massive difference. The car never cut out once.

Excellent result then, it makes quite a difference with such small increments up or down to improve things.

Hadn't planned on CLM as unsure about Legends [1975-2015 ] format - however Porsche Club France gave me a free ticket to compensate for crap tracklap last year [ and reimbursed tracklap fee] so silly not to.
Ian Comerford is joining me the day after in his fabulous gold 911 hotrod- spin down the Route Napoleon/ D2 to Antibes - three nights there and then on to OutClassicLaw in Gaillac for three days, Ian then heads North, I do 2 nights in Pyrenees and then ferry back to Ireland from Bilbao.

Gave the 911 a wash, glass super wash and set the pressures etc ready for the Silverstone Sunstede bash of Porsche's anniversaries etc. on Sunday.

Saturday all sold out I read, hope Sunday will be a bit easier.

Going to be hot, so aircon fully open.

Also bought some demon Pagid pads for the car, but the fronts are on back order, so hoping to get them late next week.

Break-in procedure is crazy, but hope they will be a big upgrade on the current Brembo pads.

Hope to compete in the car again soon at Shelsley Walsh, nostalgia rules....

Brake fluid change nearly done

Yesterday. Had a nice 150 ish mile loop of south east Cymru. Went to the monmouthshire classic car show in the grounds of the hogs head in great treadam just outside abergavenny.

Came back via crickhowell and brecon. Lovely run. Also saw a red targa with a gumball sticker/number on it too.

Haven’t driven the 2.4 for about 2 months ! So took it out for a run around the loop. Fuel gauge still playing up

With the hill climb looming, put the 4 point seat belts in, took 3 minutes.
New race numbers on the door magnetic backings.
Few more details to add and it’s ready, almost.

Tried to tweak the gear linkage so first is easier, but not much in it.

Big job on Tuesday is to install the new Pagid super strong brake pads…

Drove it. A nice mix of quick and twisty roads. Ran spot on.

Got to a traffic issue on the m4 and it just died! No warning. Dead. Tried restarting. Nothing. Not a sausage.

Got under and jumped the starter and it fired straight up and drove spot on all the way home.

New ignition switch ordered.

Also saw a lot of porsche cars out today. More than usual. Nice mix of old and new.

Pulled one of the front wheel bearings out to get the numbers and ordered up some FAG replacements and new oil seals. They’ve been rattling horribly since our Euro trip and I’ve been ‘nipping them up’ for longer than I can remember, so time for some new ones!
