Mark, have you checked the earth strap ? try temporarily clipping a jump lead from the starter body to the car body ground to reinforce the connection.

Thanks for the suggestion Tim, but I managed to snap it and bought a new thicker one and fitted that - still the same result
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

Had ride over to the local TIPEC meet . Not much early stuff but the white Targa was nice . Bog stock RHD car , 59k miles with aircon .

Fitted flywheel and clutch, along with lightweight rear engine support. Fitted sun visors (thanks 40 Scout)...

Took the long way into work.....Bit of a chill in the air, afew leaves on the ground

Rinsed, washed, rinsed, washed, rinsed, washed then final rinse, dried off, wax & polished, wiped down interior, hoovered, silver bits extra polish, rubber trims dressed and windows polished inside & out...only taken me 6 satisfying hours. I'm knackered!!!

Collected the seats from the trimmers (and bumpers from the painters) and re-united them with the car.

Started the engine for the first time since the rebuild. Tightened the sump plug and oil tank drain plug.
