I think everyone needs to start saving up for one of these conversions - I just hope I get mine finished while I can still use it with its proper engine.

I did a little digging, because I love the idea of converting classic cars to EV, and because I work in EV research for hybrid supercars with major car manufacturers and I like to see what the little fish are doing...

The powertrain looks like a 96V max battery consisting of 5 Tesla Model-S modules for 25 kWh total - 100 mile range sounds ambitious, but it obviously depends how heavy your foot is so it might be possible at a stretch. The motor is an AC50 AC brushless motor driven by a Curtis 1238 controller. Its only 70 horses, but massive torque so will give impressive acceleration in such a light car. You can buy the same motor+motor controller setup in UK for around £6k https://falconelectric.co.uk/product/hp ... r-package/. On top of that, you need 20-60 kWh of batteries (new DIY build or used complete modules), battery container to suit, high voltage high current cables and connectors, fuses, kill switch, battery management system, custom gearbox mating, lots of custom brackets. All DIY-able.

More EV conversion vids, but this time for a retrofittable hybrid system that provides additional power, circa +150BHP, $75k installed. A donut shaped electric motor replaces the flywheel in the gearbox bell housing. Removes the starter motor and starter battery. Adds a small battery system and electric motor controller. Looks like this retrofit solution will be a winner, and might well be replicated by many other businesses.

Interesting to see that Porsche themselves don't use the full 1/4 panel or disturb the roof seam.
Wonder if they notice the issues with their own panels and give feedback or just fix them and move on.. Like the 1/4 doesn't match the sill or the engine lid, both need slitting and rejoining.

Would have been great to see another 2 hours of the metal working part, but that's maybe a niche audience too far

Yes, that was interesting to see that cut. I undid the roof rail when I fitted my rears and the join in clearly hard to make invisible, so this cut must actually be the right way!
No floor work or torsion bar areas etc, maybe it was simply a good car to start with.
The clip is bound to be edited to give a taste of each major 'chapter' in such a rebuild, no suspension work etc.

Found 1400 hours a surprise, x hourly rate + parts = A LOT of MONEY. Must be £200,000

I don't know who she is but I thought she came across as a genuine enthusiast.

She obviously knew what she was getting into (although quite a daring choice for a first Porsche) & I particularly liked her statement that she was keen to put on some smaller diameter wheels with bigger profile tyres (ie more like the original spec).

Also applauded her idea of taking it somewhere like an airfield to explore the handling limits.
