'First of all, on street cars traveling at legal or even near legal speeds such devices would make only a very tiny difference, if any, and if you are traveling in such a manner that this tiny difference has any effect on your ability to control the vehicle, then you should stop this practice.

The amount of down force generated is related to the speed of air passing over/under the wing. Faster speeds mean more down force. Racing vehicles that use this technology are traveling two to three times faster than any street legal vehicle should be traveling, and they are dealing in hundredths of seconds for victories worth millions of dollars.

People who are attaching these wings to street legal vehicles are either using them only for decoration, or are modifying their vehicle with the intention of using it for racing. In some rare cases they are built into the design of a street legal sports car. Of course those vehicles are designed from the start to be street legal, but fully capable of competing in races right from the factory.'

New year and all that...

Been meaning to fit these for awhile, but never got round to it.....Lovely bit of kit !

The car is fitted with the Elephant racing polybronze bushings at the front and some "modified" (but can't remember why) Superpro polyurethenes on the rear.

They are pretty straight forward to do, just require abit of prep work and then some fiddling around with the supplied washers to get the correct amount of lateral play. All installed and now time to have some fun with the grease gun!

Got the trailing arms back in the same place +/-, but will do an alignment check once some new tyres are fitted.

Whilst in there I decided to update the C.V joints. I have never been 100% happy with the original setup that I pieced together with used parts. So I got hold of some brand new C.Vs and axles, remarkable the difference in feel between the old and new. The current setup has alot of play in comparison ! ....



Only problem is that the 911 Gearbox is using 914 output flanges (smaller diameter, but compatible with the gearbox) in order to mate up to the 901 stub axles. The 914 output flanges have 4 bolts and 2 pins, so I made up new some pins and will press into place.

After that I needed something fun to do...So got hold of a Repro Durant mirror, no original mirrors were harmed in the making of this.

But its true, if you think its difficult to see out of an original, try a repro...guess they are cheap for a reason !

There is a chap with a 912 with polo engine, on the 912 BBS forum, that swears by the Aero fenders. Claims better stability at high speeds

Yeah, Chris built some winglets that attached under the bumper on his POLO powered 912...essentially creating the benefits of an S bumper but maintaining the (nicer) look of the SWB bumper...








Hands up, I purely went for visual over function. But there is a company who makes the under lip extensions for a 964
