Thinking of them for the replacement of the crappy Bridgestones on the Boxster if they do the sizes.

Good call, I’ve got two spares in the garage as the rears wear twice as fast and I don’t like mismatched tyres and they always change them slightly!

I’d consider Continental sport contact 7 for a more modern performance tyre. I run them on my TT and they work really well (as long as it’s not too cold!)
Not sure of size of the Boxster, but mine are low profile 19” so not far off I’d guess.

So, the car had quite a bad leak from the pressure leak off for the pressure oil fed tensioners

As suspected, this cannot be removed without stripping the engine down, think heads off, due to size of it, it won’t spin. So I’ve tightened it up as much as I can and it seems to be holding at the moment with a fresh oil change

The Boxster people over on PCGB say the Mich PS4S is really good, and is on the short list.

The car has Fr 235 x 35 x 19 and the Rr 265 x 35 x 19.

Bridgestones 1/3 worn and droning like mad. Time soon (ish) for a total change. Ruins the car.

I have those on the 964 Graham - am pleased with them but to be honest don’t really rag it around and they are the only tyres I have ever known on it so cannot call them apart from anything else…

Use a site like this, look at other peoples reviews but also look at the test reports from Autobild, and TUV etc. Especially since they give ratings on noise levels, rolling resistance, wear, value for money, wet and dry braking.

I’ve got Michelin 4S on the GT4, Toyo proxes on the 911

The counties for the 911 are being fitted on my drive next week, and I think the Michelins as you have will be going on.
Drone is still there on a run to Zuffenhaus this morning for service and MoT on the Boxster.
Bit louder if anything today, but could be my hearing aids!

The change will have to wait until early summer, can’t stand throwing away all that thread….

Snap Wayne, on my A4 S Line as well, good all round tyre.

I think the tyre noise issue is fixed.

I finished off the assembly of pots 3 & 4. Started on pots 1 & 2, got all the way to fitting the rockers only to find that the 4 nuts & washers have disappeared. lots of swearing and scared a passer by!

found a decent priced wosp starter motor so that has been ordered. there's no way the limp dick starter that i already have would turn this motor! who needs money anyway!

Getting ready for rolling road session on Saturday. Can’t wait but still nervous!

Spent a long day on the rolling road following the changes made to the fuelling system on the 914. To briefly recap, dropped from 48mm ITBs with 440c/min injectors to 45mm ITBs with 330cc/min injectors. New 6AN fuel lines throughout, new tank etc.

End result was a solid 11 per cent increase in torque and just over 10 per cent increase in bhp. Fuelling mapped at 250rpm increments from 1250rpm all the way to 6250rpm resulted in the most progressive graph I've seen without any added post-run 'smoothing' used to iron out minor blips along the way. Had to take the seat out as David Richards of Richards Brothers at Redruth couldn't fit in my skinny-arse seat! A pile of blankets sufficed, but I don't think the scrutineers would pass them...

The car feels ballistically quick through the gears and sounds incredible on its longer open velocity stacks. All that remains now is to improve cold starting - I had hoped to trailer the car to the rolling road to arrive with a stone cold engine, but the trailer has gone AWOL, so I had to drive it there. I think the battery is on its way out as voltage is dropping away noticeably while cold cranking, which upsets the ECU. First thing to do before I splash out on a new Odyssey 925 is double-check all earths, but I think that it's giving up the struggle after three and a half years of abuse.
