What power/lumen did you order as there are 3 types on that link please?

I would have taken the low power, warmest white H4 type. For me, low power means cooler operation and better longevity. Mine drew about 2.1A each on a fully charged battery (engine not running).

i took out the engine & box. stripped the engine down to the crank case. i couldn't split the two halves so i left it before i broke that too.

One thing i found was that all of the piston rings are intact. so what i found around the strainer was not rings.

no idea what it is now.

i did break two of the rocker shaft mounting blocks and fooked the tinware under the head & barrels of 3+4. it's going to be a big expensive parts list

I'm taking lots of pics so as long as i can figure out loading pics i may very well create a thread.

The case was split, stripped and cleaned yesterday. i spent the best part of 8 hours stood up at the tiny space i had to work with. thank goodness for my chinese diesel heater!

Started some wiring clean up.....PITA, but surprisingly therapeutic





New mounting board made and amazingly it all still works !





New maxi-fuse on order. Will then start to cut back, wrap and sleeve...( wires around the brake reservoir are the wiper motor, just placed out of the way for now )

I spent the day remaking all the 6AN braided fuel lines in the 914, from pump/tank back to throttle bodies. Satisfying work but I now ache from all the contortions needed to install the lines. Mid-engined cars suck when it comes to access...

Started reassembly of my engine. See tech help for my progress

after initial confusion, the case is back together. all moving nicely with no jamming, no knocks etc. back on it sunday hopefully and then get the heads sent off to james at stateside tuning.

Been putting off doing the oil changes on the 73T/3.2 and the Lola's 3.2, but with Gary popping over to borrow the engine stand put me in the frame of mind to wrap up and get these two done.

Had ordered a 20L barrel of Shell as both use the same grade of oil, lots of 5L empty containers for the old oil ready to do battle with the man at the tip who does not like me bringing down so much oil (he thinks I run a garage..)

Did the Lola first which went well using my best filter removing tool I own (I have a small collection of these things) and poured in 10 litres (10 came out) which was the same gold colour as the oil that came out (it had done about 60 miles so no surprise). I'll start the engine up in late March in preparation for the first hillclimb.

Gary zoomed off to give his wife a Big Lunch so I think he needs Brownie Points.

911's change went just as well, started it up and got the oil mid-way Max and Min. Started easy (last run late October), sounded like it always does.

23Litres for both cars.

The sump plugs were absolutely clean and great for an engine that has never been apart and now about 140,000 miles old, but has had an oil change every year since I put it in in 1994.

What a car it is.

Good to catch up Graham, I do spoil my wife with trips out to collect parts and tools

The engine crane is arriving tomorrow so did a few more ‘floor’ jobs today.

Handy having the box in bits when centering the friction disc



Also stripped one of the tensioners down to its components.



Hopefully the rebuild kits will arrive soon!
