Yep it certainly looks like rust
Jobs on your yoke? Is that auto-correct or are you doing some engine work?

Another Monday morning, more sore arms......
Yesterday sorted the front bumper
I'd had it stripped. So I washed it down, then welded up the little holes I'd found - went well. Then coated it all with FE123 from Rustbuster - goes black and hard.
Then filled the dents in the front - left when they welded up the mounting holes. Then sanded it down. Finally applied coating of epoxy mastic to the rear of it, making sure I covered all the edges.
Took this shot this morning
It looks the same as one above I know. But it's way different. The outer sill is on and the drivers wing now fits - it's not perfect but I'm happy with it which is all that matters at the end of the day.
Hopefully collecting engine tomorrow afternoon from Mike; Fitting it on Saturday, and got next week off work for final prep and then respray.
Excited and nervous......

Have you made a final decision on the colour?

Porsche Aquamarine blue 5707 - not the metallic one
Side writing and bumper stripes in oyster white
Main stripe to be flanked by two thinner stripes also in oyster white
Main stripe to be a dark red/maroon/wine
I'm planning on getting some colour samples of the red colours and holding them next to the oyster and the blue before making a final decision
Although yesterday my daughters toenails looked the perfect colour

So it's going to be fleshy pink, with pearl detailing and red stripes? Cool.

Hey Mark just picked up your resto thread.
Got to say it puts me to shame what you are doing. I also have the CLM dead line but due to LNT (lack of natural talent) and lack of time I am getting other people to do the work. Your build is going to be far more fulfilling knowing you have done it your self.
Interested to see the oyster white as I am thinking of light ivory for my stripes and side decals against Aubergene.
Keep the faith brother you'll make it.
Look forward to seeing it at CLM

Surely light tan leather for the interior?
I'm not alone, but will be keen to see a MB engine up and running.
You do need to get going to be at LeMans?
Great DIY on the shell, smashing to 'see'

Thanks Trevor. Whilst I'm doing a hell of a lot myself I couldn't have got this far without Mike Bainbridge and without Neil doing the bodywork on the drivers side.
Thanks 911hillclimber - I'm aware I need to get a move on
Current timetable is
- engine collected tomorrow and in this week-end
- Next week off work for final prep and respray - aiming to have it in colour by end of next week
- Following 2 weeks putting everything back onto the car - evenings and week-ends (actually only 1 week-end

)
- then 2 weeks holiday in Italy
- Then I've got 3 days before CLM - MOT and stripes fitted
- Drive the bogger!
Light tan - hmmm not seeing it myself. Oxblood leather/panels work really well with this colour scheme

Just a thought Mark, with your deadline so tight is there any special prep work required for painting carbon.
Not a material painted everyday by a lot of painters don't want you to find out last minute it needs some kind of special base primer to stop paint falling off. May be a daft question but it seems these days that paint technology is not as simple as it used to be.
