Spot on. They are super cool, I think. Like a lot of proper motorsport cars, where form so clearly follows function. On that note I spent ages today gawping at Le Mans cars at Goodwood, in various states of bodywork removal. Great stuff.

The Carrera has been brilliant so far, the car was faultless on a recent run to Connel. Brendan posted some great pictures on the forum. The highlight for me was confirmation from both Mike (210bhp) and Paul (Ferryman) that the ride height is perfect....all without the use of a stick! It does seem to have settled slightly or at least the earlier pictures were taken from a bad angle. I think I will be leaving well alone. I was also really pleased to let Paul drive the car and give me some feedback, all would appear to be exactly as it should be.

One change I have decided upon is the exhaust, the existing is slightly different from the std exhaust that was fitted to the 2.7 non mfi (I will check this) in my view is slightly tame for the car. I have opted to change this to a stainless Turbo Thomas exhaust, the aim is not to turn the car into a screaming dragster but give it a subtle lift and add a more mechanical note at the top end.

The exhaust arrived and one of the bends is out slightly, Richard (TT Exhausts) admits his mistake and has obviously sought to rectify this immediately at his cost. This did allow me to sound test the first offering, which was an improvement but still too soft. I have opted to have 2/3rds of the sound deadening he had packed in removed. I had the opportunity to hear the car today, still on the ramps but so far it sounds perfect. I just need to drive it now and get a proper feel for the change.

I managed to take some pictures for my records today, I enjoy seeing under cars and get a better feel for the condition. It is looking good but there are some areas I want to clean and protect, I like this side of things.

Odd place to jack the rear of the car on the anti roll bar brackets or does the impact bumper shells have a pad there?

I think the colour is perfect for an IB car, love the ducktail but also really liked the whale tail and that steering wheel is gorgeous

I had a spirited couple of days in Wales a few weeks back using a set of Cinturato's (185's and 215's) rather than my usual Avon's and properly leant on them over the course of two days.
Properly warmed up and scrubbed in I found them an amazing tyre with wonderful levels of grip and feel...... softer than Avon's, I bottomed out a couple of times which I haven't experienced before driving the same roads, and the side walls certainly have a give and flex giving them a nice period feel and allowing you to roll through the bends with gusto however I never reached a point where I felt they'd let go unexpectedly and I did try.....at one point I did find myself facing the wrong way over Brecon (sorry Tim!) but that was road/driver and the car came back in an instant....overall I think they're the perfect tyre for your car and sure you'll love them the more you use them.

Unfortunately for me, although the same size as Avon's, they are a tad higher and wider and being softer I found they rub slightly on the arches and I also now have a couple of shiny bits of metal at the top underside of my rear arches!....no such problem for you with those lovely RS flares!

They're a weak point on most IB cars.

Thanks, delighted to have the car. I agree the colour is great, Mike (210bhp) pointed out that the RS was never supplied in silver which I like (apparently Porsche weren't happy with the colour match of the fibreglass ducktail and the steel body colour). This makes the more modern Carrera look more period correct in silver (in my eyes). The whale tail is really nice but I love the ducktail like you. The steering wheel porn was specifically for you and Jonathan.

Thanks for the feedback on the Cinturato's, I am getting used to them. It would be interesting to try a stiffer tyre and I might experiment in time.

I am hoping to take the car along to the Scottish Porsche in the Park this weekend, this year it is being supported by Porsche Glasgow and Derek Bell is making an appearance. It would be nice to snap a picture of him next to the car if he goes wandering.

Mine looks to be slightly higher which I don't think is bad, like I have said I will live with it for the moment. The front is easy to alter and if needed I can drop this very slightly, the back I believe is more involved.

The CPR car looks nice but it seems a tad too low from stock height front and back to me.
