Morning all
Cleaned all the 944 turbo CV joints up last night, looks like I have good parts for three CVs so have ordered one new one.



Getting them back together may prove a little more tricky!

Hi all,
Picked up the chassis and most of the components from the powder coaters yesterday. Really pleased with both the quality of the coating and prep of the bits and bobs. Only had time to un-wrap and give everything a quick inspection, but wow . Second batch of components should be ready mid-next week. The best bit starts now with the re-assembly of refurbish and new components, sealing joints etc.

Everything has been media blasted to remove rust and crap then a 200 micron coat of high build zinc based primer, semi baked and then 50 microns of high gloss black and a final bake. The rear ali trailing arms and front lower control arms were just media blasted to clean them up.

I bet you are a very excited boy. It looks fantastic and with the best bit to come.

Thanks for the kind comments.
Problem with a great looking chassis is why put dirty, rusty parts back on it.
Progress has been very slow despite spending lots of hours. For example, I was just going to bolt the steering column and pedal box back in, then looking at them decided they need refurbishing so strip down, powder coat, re assembly then you need new bolts, nuts, washers. Never meant to get this detailed on the build, but I guess that’s what happens as the project grows.

The aftermarket accelerator pedal was re done as I was not happy with the paint finish


Drive shafts, cleaned, stripped, powder coated, re built with new part where needed


Trailing arms done, except bolts and washer need replacing on the coil-overs




A couple of boxes of parts to pick up from the powder coaters on Friday, so back to assembly very soon

Your not alone Greg. Those that have built there cars, me for one, probably never anticipated buying all new nuts n bolts etc. Like you said its a shame to put rusty bits back on a nice shinny chassis.

By the way you need new bolts n washers for those rear lower shocks

You not stone chipping the bottom of the chassis before you get carried away building it up?

Pick up the washer and bolts for the bottom of the coil-overs tomorrow, hopefully. Plan to use a PU sealant around a lot of the joints and then mask off and spray some stone chip at some point. As you say might be easier now, will give it some thought. I don't have a compressor and not sure if a spray can of stone chip would be any good.

You know... You're a very bad influence for me... The past weekend I started measuring my -69 flatsix that I have in my garage. I only have the engine, no 911 to put it in so it is just a garagedecoration and moneypit as is undergoing a full resto.. It do appear that it might fit in my coupe....
