No they are just remote shock adjusters so filled with oil - pressurised as a unit on the bench by Gaz and then you can remove the adjusters to feed through the body into the cockpit. My front ones are in the front boot, the rears I will locate into the rear boot using OE grommeted holes.

They made them to my spec based on so I g lengths etc. Means I can adjust for changing weather without getting under the car

Eleven for eleven.
















Across Noord Holland to Volendam, pick up some bread, then back home. That wasn't the intention - we'd had a belated anniversary lunch booked with the outlaws which required two cars. I wasn't feeling great when I woke up this morning but chose to ignore it. The fresh sea air didn't help me any, so made the decision to head home. Currently snuggled up on the sofa with MTV '80s on, and everyone else is over by the Utrecht border tucking in to fresh seafood. Gutted.
Oh, and I had the transmission warning lights come on again. In both directions. First time I just restarted the car at the lights. Second time was (obviously) somewhere that I really couldn't do that, but I was nearly home so restarted it there. And they didn't come back. Apparently (according to a few Rennlist posts) this is a symptom of deteriorating HT leads. I've never replaced them and I've owned it for twelve years and 14,000 miles, so I guess they're past due. There are twelve of them, so that won't be cheap...

Tried my new jacking plate from Butty's Bits. A bit nicer than the rigid arm welded to a flat disc.

I had a proper win today. The front parking sensors on the 'sensible family car' failed yesterday when my better half was driving home from work. It's too easy to fall into the trap of 'modern means complicated and expensive', so I gave it a proper wash. That didn't help. Pulled the fuse, let it sit for a minute, popped it back in and there was still no change. Hmmm. Didn't want to pull the bumper, so pulled the boot side off and had a look at the module.




Plastic. Wires. Scary. But if it's broken anyway, it can't get more broken. So out it comes, and immediately there's a potential clue.



Every connector is the same - just one or two furry blue pins.




This module is 300€, or 40€ and a week's wait from AliXpress. I can't be arsed with either of those options, so blast the bejeezus out of it with contact cleaner, and get an old toothbrush in there for good measure as well. The multiplugs get the same treatment.
After a minute of flapping to make sure I've not flooded its internals I connect it all back up again.




Result.

But have you sorted out how it got damp and wet?

Not yet, but the consensus on Rennlist seems to be sunroof drains. I'll get some strimmer wire down them.

Looked at my charge light and indicators light not coming on. I finally found a way to rest my head when under the dash! A battery with a Porsche race book on it. Turned out to be two easy fixes. Charge light was loose screws but I took the opportunity to cut the wire back and present some fresh cooper. I thought about going to spade connectors but the connectors looked in pretty good shape. The indicator light was a bad bulb. I love easy wins.

Drove out to Industry and Supply which is now 5 mins from the Weedon Bec Depo. Neal, who owns it, is an ex Advertising Exec and does all the artwork himself.

The 356 starts very nice. When we got home I backed off the timing a bit and balanced the carbs. They where ok at idle but slightly off as the Revs increased.

Pulled the engine out as I had a spare morning



Few jobs to do, but primary reason is to stop the gearbox leaking as it’s undriveable at the moment as there is every chance it will run dry!

Up to a point yes, but got a new aluminium diff side cover and need to do all the bearings inc pinion so will need to get the diff reset properly. It’s definitely been low on oil more than once so needs a bit of love.
Probably chat to Greatworth for reassembling.

Wise move imho.

Bit of Boxster love this nice morning.

Now all the leaves are down time to ensure water is not trapped, so washed the car fully, detail brush along the window seals and all that, silicon'd the seals for anti-icing soon too.
Opened the roof 3/4 way and flushed the 4 drain holes. Flushed the battery area drains too, messy job, but water flows freely, not blocked at all.

Got to put the decorations up this afternoon, but washed the thick dust off the 911 quickly.

Cover will go on later when most of the trapped water is drained/dried.
Spotted a job that needs doing on the 911's sun roof, that will keep me busy soon.
