By contrast, the brake / tail lights bulbs were a straight swap and whilst the tail lights flicked on in a millisecond and seemed much brighter even in daylight, pressing the brake pedal had no effect at all. I changed the LEDs back to the original bulbs and still nothing, so clearly something’s up with the brake pedal switch by master cylinder (not easy to get to apparently) or the wiring to and from it to both bulbs. Maybe the horrendous downpours back from Shelsley Walsh on the DDK weekend had something to do with it? Anyways a trip to Greatworth without brake lights (
) beckons on Monday…
I hesitate to say this for fear of offending my old mate but…
It is easy in the heat of battle not to have the ignition on…. Lights work but not brakes….

Great to have the car back on the hills even if the weather was generally pretty awful at Wiscombe Park yesterday. Finished 14th out of 18 in class but just happy to beat the Peugeot 205 and MGA that were bugging me!
Congratulations to jwhillracer for second in his class to a 4WD Subaru in conditions that varied between slick and slimy to heavy rain. Definitely not ideal for a 911, unless driven by the master...
Thanks to Nigel Cole for the photo during my one run when wipers weren't needed...

Good to read KS.
We had much the same at Prescott for the weather.
I passed on the first timed run as too much water everywhere and it lingered in places for the second run which I took.
Had 2nd in class (but only 3 in the class...)
Last event soon at Loton Park 27/28 Sept and all done for 2025!

On Saturday 13th, took myself to a PCGB event at Gwrych Castle, Abergele.
It wasn't a proper concourse event - a gathering of Porsche owners - and I went home with the award for the best car on display!

No Porsche content but Mrs B and I have landed in Shanghai after our break in Japan. Someone asked if I could write about visiting Japan and driving in Japan which I will do briefly as no Porsche content.
However, although China is a little more difficult to get into (however, no visa entry is now possible for 240 hours if transfering to another place) our initial impressions are that its next level. Well worth the effort. Makes Japan seem almost 3rd world. Japan seems firmly stuck in the past while China rushes to the future. 25m people in Shanghai and the price v quality is very high. Many western www sites are blocked but CPC are clearly DDK fans!

I first went to Japan for 2 weeks work in the late 80s. Loved the place, Bullet train was amazing.
Clean and ultra efficient and very polite and respectful.
Went into China from Hong Kong just before China took it over. What a shock on every level. Very 3rd world.
Went to China for work 4 times in the 2000’s.
What a shock on every level!
Each trip saw the change to prosperity at astronomical levels, but the burden on the people was high.
I Mostly went to Ningbo, a rapidly developing industrial region, at the time it had 3 power stations to its self and a whole city dedicated to plating steel, koi carp swam in the rinsing waters to prove lack of pollution.
China will be the next super power like it or not.

Yesterday evening had a wonderful drive over the moors and specifically Blakey ridge ( as featured in mags and TG etc ) to Pickering to go and see my youngest daughter who’s currently living there . Roads were clear and cracked on well , although the current Michelins really do need some working before you get decent heat into them .
( legally speaking, photo not taken by me )
Lost my Porsche mojo a bit over recent months so was great to have a drive that reinvigorated me. 964’s are great cars and you really don’t need anymore power etc to have fun on these roads . Love this car
