Held together with cable ties after my off at Loton, it’s time to get back on the horse


It has sub optimal suspension settings as 5 years or so on slicks have allowed it to self adjust. I am going to have to moderate myself until I do a complete suspension refresh over the winter - the urethane bushes are over 10 years old and had it after a punishing life

Went to Prescott to see Wayne's new hot rod again now in one piece along with a great class of PCGB Speed contenders.

A few probs for some but not Wayne!

Just a few pics from the day. Stinkin' hot so ducked-out at 2.00pm and watched F1 Quali...

911 ran an absolute dream despite the heat and the traffic. Seemed to be target practice for all going there by Kidderminster, but no such antics coming back. What is wrong with people?

I gave the passenger side rear wing and door a rub down and respray. I got an early model mirror glass (can't find the later one) and sanded the width down to fit the housing. It's ok for now.

Nearly as nerve wracking as an MoT, took the Boxster to it's major service at Zuffenhaus in south Birmingham.
Last spring it had an advisory for corrosion to the driver's side front solid brake line, so it was booked in for the fronts to be 'repaired'.

This all would take quite a few hours so walked and caught the BUS into Solihull shopping centre. That adventure went sort of ok but waiting for buses is a real pain, but whiled away 4 hours...

Zuffenhaus said the pipes were fine, so cleaned and greased them instead.
Major service includes the plugs changed, every filter, the auxiliary belt changed, brakes flushed etc and a good look-over the car for weaknesses.

Sure runs nicer, must be the plug change, so all ready for the forthcoming French tour.

£613 all in.

16 years old now, 87K miles too and too old for European breakdown cover with Brittania, but ok with the RAC. (£160 cost, one trip).
Mighty set of stamps in the service book now, will it make the car worth more?
No, I very much doubt it either.

This popped up on my Facebook feed. 3 years ago, on the way back from CLM. Mrs B wondered why I parked next to an old cycling track and asked, in very bad French, if I could see the showers. I got to sit in a holy place. To visit places like this, in a special car, is what makes our trips really special.

After 3 months of fairly intensive (and successful!! ) Hillclimb action with our 911, we decided it was about time to give the other fleet members some attention and a run.
Yesterday we took the 914/6 off to South Devon for an afternoon in and around the gardens at Dartington Hall, which was very pleasant, albeit a bit of a boring drive down the M5/A38 and back again. It reminded us why we decided to move 100 miles further up the road 14 years ago!!
The 914/6 went perfectly, didn't miss a beat!

Today I went back to my working roots, and serviced the tractor!





I drained the engine oil, and changed it, cleaned and refilled the air cleaner with fresh oil (had to be an improvement on the dregs of mayonnaise with a few woodlouse bodies floating in it ) I changed several of the seals around the engine (rubber "O" rings where there should have been copper washers)



Checked and topped up all of the gearbox, reduction gears and steering box oils, adjusted one front wheel bearing and greased all of the points.



I still have the tools for dealing with large threaded fittings!!

Power washed it all off, and gave it a good "oily rag" wipe off to be ready for the 6 or 7 mile run down to a neighbouring village fete and "Funfest" that we have been invited to on Saturday. I'm sure that it will take the thick end of an hour at the 14mph top speed of the 109 Junior!!



Next week back to preparing the Hillclimb car for Classic Nostalgia!

That looks great Jonathan, diametrically opposite to the 911!
Doubt many at shows know Porsche made tractors.

Our 911 is all but ready to do Shelsley bar a good wash down with a watering can, hose ban with us all soon I think.

Have had to change our race number from 79 to 75 and garage location.

Some say we will have a wet weekend.(?)

Someone recently wouldn't believe me when I told him that we had three classic Porsches -

One rear engined air-cooled

One mid engined air-cooled, and

One front engined air-cooled!

It took him a while to figure it out!

Last night had our monthly village car club meet and drive out into the dale . Small turnout due to a few cars being off the road but alway an eclectic mix.
