Armed with a full rebuild kit, set off to do battle with rebuilding the callipers on my 73T with A front and stock M rear callipers.
Fronts went well.
Rears not so...
Full story when I've won the wars as it might help others.

The brake saga continues on the mighty 72S. So I replaced the rear near side hard brake line with a genuine Porsche part, previous one was a homemade one done by me, rebled all the brakes again and have a relatively firm pedal now. Happy days. Now let’s see how long this lasts.
In other news, whilst doing this, I noticed all my tyres are stamped 51 14 & 52 14, looks like new boots required all round then, bugger, they’ve hardly seen any use and I’m sure it wasn’t 11 years ago when I last changed them

Fingers crossed the pedal holds this time.
The tyres are a sign you need to drive it more! Get some new rubber on and bring it to CLM, with enough tools to bleed the brakes!

Gary, when you did your brakes on the '72, what pedal travel did you end up with ?
ie, from the pedal at the rest position to hard on the brakes.
Mine has turned out to be 60mm before the pedal is hard on the discs.

my brake pedal is exactly in line with the throttle pedal when the pads are biting .... BUT, my throttle pedal rod has been cut and welded to balance the pedals for H&T ( this was done way before my ownership so probably 30 + years ago )

Thanks James.
Since last week and fitting all new seals/ pistons and removing rust under the dust seals, bled etc the pedal is firm, will not 'pump-up' etc but there is a disconcerting 50/60mm free travel before the firm brake is felt and it feels a long movement.
It was a about 40 before, maybe 30mm but I suspect the pads were not being pulled off the disc as much as they are now.
Will have a go at resetting the pedal plunger pin length (lengthen it) and see if that fixes it. I would like about 10mm free pedal movement before the master goes solid (the pads are hard against the discs).
If I understand the Haynes manual there needs to be 1mm clearance between the plunger and the master piston no matter what. Understand that so there is no pressure on the system.
I assume at this point the brake pedal is up as far as possible (ie level with the clutch pedal foot pad).
When that 1mm clearance is taken up by applying the brakes the pedal would depress about 10/20mm and go hard.

Put the spring back on for the door latch and put a retainer on so the spring doesn't come off again. I've got some better springs arriving but will work for now. Nice to see last 3 digits of the VIN number on the door
I also learnt to put my finger underneath a small dowel pin when knocking it out. More arriving soon!

Hi Neil
The dowel pin that pops through the handle base to secure it is missing on mine. Would it be possible for you to measure the length and diameter please. I believe it might have one rounded end and one straight end. Is this correct?
Many thanks for any help.
Regards
Mike

The dowel pin in the one I didn't lose was 3mm v 12..5mm. I think they are the same so I've ordered some 3*13mm solid pin. However, the one I was was solid (door latch handle) and the one I measured was rolled sheet. It comes in a pack of 50. When they arrive I'm happy to send some to you

.
According to PET they are 3mm x 8mm:
When I made some (similar) for my Giulietta Sprint I used 3mm steel rod cut to just a fraction lees than the external diameter of the handle 'shaft' & chamfered one end to make them easier to insert.

The plan was to make a few Andy but as Neil has ordered so many and they could be timed to length I would be happy to make a contribution to the DDK charity in exchange for a few, or happy to buy them Neil whatever your preference.
Thanks for replying

A bit of the Lola-Porsche from Shelsley Walsh today:
Starts with 2 cars before me, the NG being in my Class.
https://youtu.be/xmy7mI6vYic?t=24399
JW and Yellow491 also appear at 0h 37, 2h 42, and 6h 20.
A great weekend's sport despite the changeable weather!
Poor old Bill (Kirklands 904) had a miserable day on Saturday with the 904FF (plus several more FF's by the end of the day!!) Gearbox gremlins were hard at work unfortunately ............
