Thats the bottom of Wrynose pass. Though the best roads were definitely for me were Middleton in Teesdale to Alston, then Alston to Hartside Pass. I agree Lakes roads too busy, but as a group it had been talked about. Personally I wouldn't do it again. Even when the roads aren't busy people don't seem to be able to drive. 25 in 60 zones, unable to drive with passing places. Can get quite frustrating.

Took the 73 out for a blast on my local roads on the weekend .. weather was stunning. This is on the top from swaledale looking into Wensleydale

What time of day is that James?
No traffic anywhere, I would have thought your county would be busy?

Anywhere North of the A66 is amazing. Even roads into Nidderdale and surrounds are quiet. Its really only the A684 as far as Hawes anyway that has some traffic

Settle to Hawes via Ribblehead is one of my favorites.

Sunday afternoon .. it's knowing which roads to avoid . Those dales roads you can run pretty quick on but always the risk of grounding out the car in places.

Generally weekends are too busy for the kind of driving I want to do on the bigger roads ... ' too busy' is all relative though

It is a great road but I think its peak was a few years ago. For some reason there are more & more tourists on it & more & more walkers doing the 3 peaks at the Ribblehead. You need to pick you day to drive and also avoid the bikers who seem intent on throwing themselves into the scenery . The police camera vans also make a point of being up there these days

MoT on the 73T next week so a bit of TLC needed so it arrives at the garage nice and smart.

This simply means cleaning all 4 corners with WD40 which always shines-up the inner wings, painted in Hammerite Smooth black gloss in 1989 over real red oxide Comma primer.
Still there after all these years. Bet today's products are not as tenacious today?

Everything looking and feeling good on the suspension, even the front wheel bearings are still play-free, a first.

Last MoT had an advisory on the rear anti roll bar drop links (the pesky nylon bush on the arm's ball pin which I changed over a few months ago) so that should be ok.
Expecting a PASS.

Polish it more and they will slide off

Put the car back together yesterday and had a run out to RAF Cosford today to bed the new pads.

Big trip to Spain/Portugal next week so thought it best to be able to stop

I MOT'd the 912E for the first time in 4 years earlier. Glad I did, as I was reading the small print of my Locktons breakdown service and in the small print it states cars must have a valid MOT. So worth checking up on that just in case you ever need it. To be clear I didn't need breakdown in the end, we fixed it on the side of the road, but I had called them to start the process.
