Had a very satisfying day tuning the zeniths on my ‘71T for the first time. A few YouTube videos and a Haynes manual later, all was balanced and I’d cured the popping ! Think it was running too lean. Took it out for a blast and all was good.

Little blast into Wales, climbed Snowden ran down and headed South via Barmouth with an overnight in the George III. Lovely roads and back via Leominster.

Drove the 964 to the NY500 for a buttie . Playing with tyre pressure . Stunning weather again.

Interesting day competing in the road-going class at the 500 Owners Association hillclimb at Wiscombe. Royally screwed up on two runs (bogged off the line in one and shifted from second to fifth on another) but managed third in class out of 12. However, that sounds better than it really was as it was a very eclectic mix of cars I ran against, ranging from a bike-engined Tiger (Caterham/Westfield lookalike) which won, to a Morris Minor Traveller which was 28 seconds slower than the class winner! The 914 got a lot of attention in a paddock dominated by an incredible selection of vintage race cars, from 500s to a solitary Cooper F5000 monster. But mine wasn't the only 914 there...



OK, so it's not a 914 mechanically. Fascinating machine, built and ridden by a chap who only has one arm. Very impressive watching him and his passenger in action.

Alone in rural Wales, what a treat!
Have seen the 'other 914' many times before, remarkable to watch and even more remarkable to meet the pilot.

Any box of motorcyclists at a hill climb racing is indeed a remarkable sight...

They are long time family friends. His father farmed in the village when we were first married, and introduced me to Burnham-on-Sea Motor Club. At that time David was a top club rally driver, and competed in the RAC Rally every year, latterly in a Capri 3-litre. He had a succession of interesting cars, including a nice Boxster.
Jonathan, his son, lost the use of one arm in a motorbike accident, and built the trike to compete on. As Keith says, it used to be his girlfriend/wife who rode pillion, but latterly it's one of his own sons, and they share the piloting as well.
Lovely guys, but mad as hatters!!!

Spent the weekend driving around the Lakes. Route there was via tan hill inn, Alston, hart side pass then Kirk stone pass. Saturday we did the lake passes of wrynose, hardknott and honister. Traffic was pretty horrendous and the 912e did not enjoy being near vertical waiting around. Got some nice photos though.

good roads are those ones you did from where I am up to Alston .. anywhere deep into the lakes I never venture into these days for driving as its as you say, just too busy
