On the subject of weight reduction, first photo shows 2024 weigh-in, second at the start of 2025 and third is 2025 with Targa roof removed.





Interesting to see that removing the top has zero effect on weight balance front-rear, but represents an 8.5kg reduction from the top of the car...

After 10 years and probably 1k miles my AOS (air /oil separator) let go at Mallory. It was all very James Bond, basically the case breather goes back to the throttle body so of the spring fails on the AOS you force oil onto the inlet.

It was spectacular- this is poor Jon on the line after my launch!




Ordered the part at lunchtime, not expensive, just one of those ‘decorating your hallway through your letterbox’ jobs

Been there twice.
PITA to change on the 'letter-box' access of the Boxster (987.2 in my case).

But you know all the right swear words that work by now as I do!

The amount of white smoke is stunning and ALWAYS happens at the wrong time.
I could not find a fault with mine when I cut them open to investigate.
Laura came up with the solution, fill the oil 1/2 way or 2/3rds way on the dash dipstick.

Not sure if that is a good idea in a race car.

Hate to dash the idea but that doesn’t work! I run a deep sump and only 1/2 way on the dipstick! The net effect is I have about 3/4 litre more than a stock fully filled engine.

It does work hard in a car at max revs all the time I suppose

With the 911 running and starting etc now, went to a Breakfast 'Drive It Day' meeting at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb.

Really good turnout, and a lot of (modern) Porsches there as usual.

2 early 911's(!) and one mid 70's too.
I think the over-exposed 2.2T 911 below is Matt's, the owner who introduced me to DDK a very long time ago.

Lovely day out Graham. That’s 2.2 is similar to Matt’s but not his.

The. Took the 964 out to get some miles on it before a big trip in may. Had a cat delete and it’s arguably just on the side of too loud.

Roads are getting too busy with the 50mph lot who seem to believe that’s the speed limit .. come to the point where it’s not worth driving for fun during the day on a weekend … so took the 50cc Honda out and had way more fun

Bicester Scramble today

Took to the hills for the first time this year, but disappointed with the outcome. Needs to go on the rolling road to sort what feels like over-fuelling (or even over lean - the symptoms can feel remarkably similar) when pulling out of the two hairpins (cough, splutter, stumble...). Finished 13th out of 17 in class, which is OK-ish considering. Did beat one Audi S3 on time, and matched some S3s in the class on launch times, so can't complain about that. But I need to get to the bottom of the fuelling issue... JWhillracer won his class while celebrating 40 years of competing at Wiscombe...

Have got my Yamaha 50cc bike running a treat, just need some bravery to insure, gloves and helmet now.
Range Rovers and MPV's are the biggest worry round here 24/7

Fitted a new battery. Had an incident a couple of weeks ago, when although on a trickle charger, went to start the car it turned over once, all the dials went crazy then nothing. I did a recon with the CTEK and this seemed to work, but the battery was 10 years old, so for the sake of £77 got a new one. At the same time I replaced the washer reservior with one of the combined 1 litre reservoir and pump units which now sits next to the battery. Next job is to remove the huge water tank under the wing.
