That. Sone things are best left alone. If the wheel bearings have gone nearly fifty years without complaining, they'll do another fifty. I understand the desire to peek and fiddle, but I'm pragmatic enough to know sometimes it's best not to. Change wheel bearings when they're grumbling, if a fresh shot of grease doesn't help.
The rest? Yep. Fresh bushes make a bigger difference than you'd imagine.

CV's: take the points.
There is a 'drone' from the rear at about 60 mph that is just about annoying. Thought it could be the CV's complaining.
With the shafts off the wheels can be spun free of that possible noise.

The bushes are old and one rear was an MoT referral, hence doing the lot.

The brakes are the biggest irritation in local give n take traffic, so might replace the 4 discs and pads and re-seal all the calipers, last done about 20 years ago.
Chatting to a fellow competition minded DDK'r last weekend may make me change from the Carbone pads to another he used in his RS rally car.

Apart from changing the tyres and oil there is nothing to do on the hillclimb LOLA, so the 911 will get this TLC, long overdue.

Unlikely - much more likely for CV's to "crackle" when turning corners than produce a drone at constant speed.

With the shafts off the wheels can be spun free of that possible noise.

So there's nothing wrong with your wheel bearings!

Yes, cheap and simple fix that will produce instant results

Final hillclimb of the year at Tregrehan. Definitely felt out of sorts thanks to a long-running virus of some kind (four weeks of runny nose and eyes for no apparent reason) and car starting to feel in need of some end of year TLC, so after a promising practice I proceeded to screw up the first timed session by locking up and almost exiting the course (JW will know where...). Next run hit a pothole at the side of the track with a resounding bang so loud I was convinced I must have damaged something, but apparently not. After that two more frustrating runs which felt OK but the clocks said otherwise. Final run got it together and managed to get sub-24 for the first time this weekend. Finished seventh in class, the top six being three Audi TTs, two Audi S3s and a well-driven turbo MX-5, so guess I can't complain too much. Opted not to run today as I feel like sh*t...

Very wise decision.
Found myself out of sorts a few years ago at Prescott in the Lola.. nothing happened but it was crap day, nothing went well.
You do need to be 100% in body and mind or just take it easy…not easy when you are in the thick of it.

I 'built up' my RS engine mounts that have been in various bags in various parts of my garage. Took longer to locate and unwrap them that it did to build them.

After many months of waiting. I finally got the motor running again. for the first time in, maybe a year or more, all four wheels are back on the ground.

Trailered a car to a car show.....It was pretty good

Just back from a 720 mile mini trip to Northumberland in the 987.2 Boxster.

Painless car, ran great, smooth as silk and took all the rain, rain and 10x more rain well in it's stride as you might expect.

It is a great area to visit, a first for us, a really good 4 days away, very wet and extremely dull weather wise. Nice and sunny coming home of course.
Might do a mini write up.

Oh, and 37 mpg today, 34 running about the area.

Went for a drive in the sunshine....

Its nice to be able to do that, after working on it for such a long time, well , since covid!
Achieved the 500 mile mark, so now an oil and filter change, check the tappets and nuts and bolts in general.

Set aside the whole afternoon to change the 964's engine mounts. Took me 45 minutes in total, without even having to drop the undertray.

We went down to West Wales, and came back with this little beauty!

The Boss and I took our 914/6 on the Woolbridge Motor Club charity car tour from Wiscombe Park.



There were several other Porsches on the run, which took us through lanes, mist and floods........



We had a mid-day break at Re:fuel for some of their excellent coffee and cake, and then finished for dinner in much better weather
