Thanks James, wasn't entirely sure. But getting proper tyres on was a must. Plus they are growing on me tbh.

Tested my old starter. Those of you on the Spa trip know the saga. It spins up fine, but the amount of lateral play is ridiculous. I'll maybe pull it apart and rebuild it, but I'll more likely offer it on the local Porsche forum for less than the cost of the deposit on an exchange one.

Probably, but I already had my doubts about the old one so bought a brand new Hella one a few months ago. Spins up beautifully after I repaired the main power cable to it. Wasn't happy with it, though, so ordered a new one. Which was a massive hassle and I suspect I got the last RHD 964RS main cable in existence. Obviously that means I'm going to have to fit the kill switch and its bracket as well. Ho hum.

Made a half hearted attempt at cleaning the 'frunk'. Used a damp rag. Paintwork around suspension tops needs a touch-up as Centre Gravity were a little careless with the tools making adjustments.

On production cars indeed that area was sealed by the factory after alignment to stop water etc getting in.
I think most will not do the same (or use something more 'removable' when the rebuild is done so any later re-adjustment is easy.
I never sealed mine back in '88 and still the same now but more than a few re-alignments since, and dry as a bone.
When adjusted to extremes there are gaps open around the clamping plates, but only about 3 mm (in my case).
I guess if you are pedantic about originality you will rough the area with sealent, a right old mess though.
