Removed the jet doctors from my webers and fitted a new linkage rod.
There is still work to do on removing the hesitation

Went to get some fuel (99 octane from local Tescos) but 914 was not happy climbing up hill out of town. Felt down on power so pulled off into side road. Blipping the throttle all sounded fine, quick look in engine bay and underneath showed no obvious problems. Then noticed a smell... right rear brake had locked on! Wheel centre red hot, brake pedal now on the floor. Oh great. Fortunately less than a mile from home, so drove gingerly back, pumping brake pedal twice each time. Fortunately a few years ago I bought a pair of rebuilt rear calipers from someone who had them left over after a project, so that's my job for the next few days - when it stops raining. I hate brake problems.

914 rear calipers are particularly horrible as well. Good luck, Keith!

Overly complicated when they could have raided the 911 parts bin... Or even, dare I say it, used drums at the rear on such a light car.

I retro fitted 911 rear handbrake shoes inside the disc on mine, so I was free to use any rear caliper. Involved a lot of work though!

Stuck a couple of ironic stickers on under the front lid. Brought a couple LED emergency flares back from Autobacs, so I've ordered the 964-specific bracket for one because why not? One's currently magnetically stuck to my strutbrace.

I have 2 new rear calipers on my 914. The reconditioned one leaked when adjusted! I need to rebuild them at sometime. I agree one of the worst bits of a 914

Going to Silverstone Classic this weekend, PCGB area, so a simple wash to remove the garage dust.
Polish the windows, but have to remove the driver's seat to reach the inside of the rear screen which was thick and evil with road dust.
Pumped the tyres to 28/32, spare t0 36 and put most of the hillclimb tools into a much smaller tool box and behind the fixed drivers FIA race seat.
Few other bits, but all prepped for Saturday.
Nice and clean, so bound to rain.
Ear;y cars are so simple to live with.
Some Shell 99 octane going in this afternoon.
I think I got this car on the road about now in 1990, 34 years ago for a trip to mid Wales coastline.

Went to a very very very wet Silverstone today in the 911 to the PCGB area.
Huge range of cars there, and quite a few early cars, 911's, 356's and 914's.

Once it stopped raining I started trying to replace my rear wheel bearing. It took about 30 minutes to get the pin on the castle nyt of. I expected trouble. They rarely seem to come of easily
. The nut came off pretty quickly with my torque multiplier. Then before trying to take off the hub. I thought it wise to get the gearbox side of the drive shaft off. My thinking was that with the hub still on I could put the wheel back on and come back to it later but with the hub off I'm committed.
The first bolt was pretty easy. Unfortunately, the next one wasn't moving and then I remembered that is was a torx style not hex. I might of striped it. The internet actually showed it's a triple square. Torx 40 didn't work either or bolt removers. Off to Halfords to get a set tomorrow. Tried Grabbing the head of the bolt with grips but no luck.

Binned it
Hamilton corner at Snetterton was like driving on marbles in the wet, and I was a late victim..

The whole car was caked in mud but went in OSF first so this gives you an idea….

Much damage or just lots of mud?

The racing at Silverstone was nearly stopped for much of the morning due to standing water, safety car calls were very frequent.
Mud bath might have allowed for a soft slowing down?

No damage, just mud everywhere. The whole event was carnage, I don’t know a single person that didn’t spin off at some point. Great fun though - I’ll try and post the video when back home
