The Renault 11 Turbo was magnificent. The steam punk jobbie looked amazing when it came in with the exposed rockers chattering away. The seating is tandem style, and the drivers wife/girlfriend/squeeze very casually had her arm under the rest body, just inside the open wheel!

Another weekend getting out and about in the 356, joining up with the local region PCGB for a cultural day out at Hoveton Hall, and then with fellow classics at the Snetterton Classic meeting today. It puts a smile on my face every time I get the opportunity to drive it.

Road trip to Chamonix

Good trip through Belgium and Germany but unfortunately the generator light of doom hit me in Switzerland.

Pulled up 150m from a Porsche specialist established in 1951!

https://anderaare.com/fr/vehicules

He was great and his mechanic was happy enough to confirm nothing simple and needed stripping.

I took the decision to drive to Porsche Bern. A bit nervous as the charge depleted but car now with them.

Rented a car and finished trip to Chamonix. A week climbing now so staying positive I can get it sorted.

Ran great before that!

Nice pictures Ant. Car looks great. Hopefully the issue is just a regulator fault and not the alternator itself. Have a great week climbing.

Shame to hear, but all adds to the drama of a good road trip . Its these kind of miles that you learn a lot about your car and find these kind of niggles ... at least once this is sorted you know the car will be good

Echo what Bootsy and James said - hope it's a simple fix and you're back in it in no time.

Thanks all.

Tough to be anything than very grateful and happy when walking here. The airtag is useful in confirming it has yet to make onto a ramp. ImageImage

Enjoy the climb! Watch out for snow blindness if walking on the glacier. Don't look into the bright ice / snow if the sun's reflecting. Photo from the top or you never made it!

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Quick update…. Alternator is toast. Probably the Diode plate the Porsche mechanic reckons but Porsche have no parts in Europe. Porsche Bern have been very good and found a specialist who will rebuild it tomorrow… new everything. 900 francs. No real choices so fingers crossed that works.

Hopefully I am back in time to wear my big meet Boxengasse T Shirt!!!

Updated my '68 911S original 002 distributor with 123 Tune+. Even with the first map there is basically no flat spots and engine pulls strongly. Good upgrade, even though my 002 seems to be in good shape.
