Yes, you're absolutely right of course. I suppose what I was getting at was the implicit idea that owning a 'collection' of cars must inevitably be the ultimate dream of all car enthusiasts. Personally I can't think of anything much less exciting than having a big shed full of seldom used vehicles, except perhaps collecting stamps. But each to his or her own, as you say.

Only looked at the pictures briefly - but find a 1972 2.4S & then add up the cost of all the upgraded/modified parts & see what figure you arrive at.

That's not taking account of any labour costs.

- shame they took the easy route & fitted a modern Prototipo ...

I agree that orange is a good colour but the beige car was very similar. There isn’t much left of the S stuff. Would be cheaper to get a rust free T and make it S Spec. Use the best of the available parts and you have yourself an epic car for a lot less money. Not sure what you would call it.....maybe an ST?

There's no logic when it comes to auction prices & what a particular car sells for - you only need 2 serious bidder who are determined to buy it.

Cars are for driving!

I don't agree with the contention that a 30 year old car which has done 6000 miles or whatever is like new. It was designed for perhaps a 15 year life and its been sitting around for twice as long, many materials will have deteriorated as a result.
