As part of ‘tidying’ I’ve fitted the new engine lid and it all lines up perfectly. That’s a bit of mojo back

I agree - tidying up works wonders - helps to remove mental blockages

Just remember where you you’ve come from with the car Gary ... superb work and it is looking good

Bit like when I worked, get a time slot you have to meet to focus.
I know too how hard it is when things have been intense, even when it is a little French bike..same emotions.

Workshop Practice, everything has a place, get it clean and everything away and get rid of the junk down the tip etc.
I keep a 'momento' back and put it on the wall or somewhere to remind me of where I've come from. Just my way.

Not far to go now till when there will be a hole in the garage and Barry will be smoothing magic all over the shell.
Time then for a big change, suspension parts to get it a roller.

That will feel real progress.
Re-assembly is the best bit.

I have similar gloominess when working solo on projects for any length of time. My answer is to put down my tools at a convenient point, lock up my unit and leave the UK for three months at a time. Admittedly a bit extreme - work takes me away a lot - and lengthens the end date drastically, but opening that roller shutter on my return always makes me proud of what i've achieved. I then pick up the tools and carry on refreshed. I've always found the tidying up, standing back and taking stock bit invaluable for cracking on. It used to be a burden not having my projects at home but locked away in an industrial unit, however, I now get a lot of satisfaction in dragging my lazy arse over there and putting some proper man hours in. Onwards!

Arggh, good info on the sound deadening, i had my lid sent straight to the paint shop and they painted over the sound deadening, i've just painted my letters but had not offered them up. I will have to tackle this for the speednuts to attach.

Keep it up Gary. It certainly get to you sometimes and a break every now and then works wonders. I've struggling with mine for weeks now with engine issues and like you have stepped away from in for a couple of weeks. Still not sure if I can face it this week so I may just leave it another few days.

Thanks for all the positivity, really appreciate it! Hopefully I’ll manage a proper day in the garage this weekend.

As a little additional motivation I went to the design studio today for a review and my most awesome design friend had a little gift for me.


Full custom hot wheels build, 3D printed wheels, hand made front spoiler, metal foiled chrome, custom box and card... maybe I owe him a pint!

He even rebuilt the interior to make it RHD. Only then did he remember my car is LHD
