I removed the windscreen from my 964 just ding some paint and the screen is stone chip'd so time for a new one, a little rust on the near side rear quarter near the sill, new piece made up and welded in prepairing for paint.

1. Fitted the silencer. I know Porsche sometime plough their own furrow but those silencer support straps are the work of the devil. As is so often the way, the first one took a couple of hours of head scratching, evil glaring, G clamping, tie-wrapping, bending, long-bolt searching & colourful language while the second was a 10 minute breeze.
2. Ordered some transfers from Rick at Highgate House
3. Ordered a fuel filler overflow socket and a pair of sill scuff plates from my friendly OPC
4. Popped to B&Q to get some ally strip to make a fuel filter bracket. Nicked an inner tube from Boy#1's bike to wrap it in.
5. Had a brainwave and found a local boatbuilder to fix the g/f rear RS bumper that I thought was scrap. Anyone want to buy a brand-new Autosport one?
6. Had a conversation with Joe at Trimdelux about the orientation of the 'bricks' in basket weave vinyl.

Took the nose off my 6T to clean out the rads and fit mesh, in time-honoured 996 tradition.
The bumper has been off quite recently as the PO had a new condenser fitted - even so its amazing how many damp leaves and crapola has collected in there, no wonder the rads etc corrode. If you have a 996 you need to do this asap people!
Also taking the opportunity to clean off and put tectyl ML rustproofing on all the fixtures and fittings, brake lines etc while the wheels are off - very satisfying to catch it before it gets all horribly rusty.

fit some mesh to the grills whislt the bumper is off ... it will prevent most of the crap getting in there

Keep up at the back. I agonised a little bit about chat about mesh reducing airflow, but having seen what can happen, she's getting meshed fo sho'.

Tried to shift the bugs from the last two Euro trips prior to picking up a few more on the way to Scotland
Failed using soapy water and had to get the rubbing compound out

Agreed with Mrs Hillclimber to go to Sept SPA in the 73T/3.2
No sure who is the most nervous....

Cool. Do it in one hit both ways, she really get to appreciate the car that way...

I did it recently and you are 80 miles closer!
Can I suggest one (or maybe two) pairs of these?
Noise cancelling headphones

Oh, she doesn't moan THAT much, it's more the 'look' that is 'loud' so to speak...no need for ear muffs.
Not sure what bits to take just in case other than a phone and Hagerty contact number!

We'll be using noise cancelling headphones for the journey up to Scotland. The car sounds great but not at a steady 80 for 4 hours
