I used to spin cast gold and silver when living in Key West. Cutting trees got old. I much enjoy building vintage cars!

I know you've been waiting to see some caliper porn. Here goes:

So after a lot of discussion about what to use for the underseal and lots of testing we finally agreed on SKS from Wurth (unless I got lost in the many discussions!) I understand that the US are really tightening up on what products can and can't be used on cars, I imagine the UK is either the same or heading that way

Hi Jos and DDK crew. That fateful day has arrived where you got a little color on your tub!

First, a few pictures of the Wurth undercoating. Spot on with your summary Jos, no more beige here in the US. We toiled for months trying to get it shipped in from Canada. We tried the 3M beige based upon a recommendation from a PCA concours judge... nothing set-up like this. I told Jos that, if I were to chose I would error on the side of texture and durability over color as 99% of the beige would be covered regardless. The 3M product is lacquer based and we tried a solvent on it and it came off like mud. Not good with fuel or oil...

Beautiful Glasurit Silver:

Shooting black wheel deco over the silver get's the desired result around the battery boxes. The fronts remain silver while the backs get shot with the black:

Looking great Eric, Troys done an amazing job and seeing the glasurit silver actually gave me butterflies! How did that happen must be a midlife thing....looking forward to windows out.

Windows out will be final paint as we're (for the most part) leaving the interior intact. The process involved with the body work is extremely messy. So, right before final prep they'll come out and those edges will be prepped.

Another suspension update from across the pond.

The entire suspension has been sent back to the paint and body shop. Troy likes to work the final phase of body prep and paint with the car in it's most natural stance, four on the floor. This way all of the lines can be made perfect and the body panels will be worked as "one". We added the rear shields and torqued up the calipers seen in previous photos and, with this group, we've added Bilstein inserts and buttoned up the front struts. Enjoy the view.

Troy and his team have removed the rotator and put the suspension back on. Body and paint start today...I am getting excited to see some real colour on the car.










As Eric said above Troy likes to prep the car with the wheels on so he can see what it will look like in its natural stance. the primer first and then the windows will come out. I was planning on taking a trip at the end of May but this might not be possible now.

Im sure it will be worth the wait.....

But it seems like you've got a fantastic partner you can trust there. The attention to detail is cool. And I will always approve of a bit of overspray on the battery boxes.

The work that's going on here looks superb. Loving the smugglers box re-weld. That's lovely attention to detail that no one but you will know is there

All the best for the rest...but I suspect this is going to be absolute quality when finished. It already is....
