my memory tells me that the traffic to the circuit was hellish 2 years ago. it took over an hour to get from the camp-site to the Bugatti circuit and that it was an early start! mind you after the Belgian alarm clock it was funny all the same.

word of warning re 'parade laps' to those who haven't done one at Le Mans. Try to be at the back of the grid, there are way too many cars on the grid and the driving standards leaves a lot to be desired. Also with the wide range of Porsche cars starting, from early 356's to race GT3's the speed differential is huge. Additionally some drivers don't 'do' Parade laps at all, they race, be under no illusions, and they will out-brake you in the braking zones and undercut you at the apex's. Please don't be tempted to join them,just try to sit at he back of the grid, let them all go and revel in the experience. Don't drop a gear at Arnage, and do mount the curb just before blatting up the hill under the Dunlop bridge. Oh and if possible, hit your horn going past the rest of us watching from Karting Nord!

I've just opened the packet for my tickets (from 1st tickets). Is the plastic tag with the barcode the general admission, paddock and grandstand pass?

There is nothing else in there, so I hope so!

I've tried ringing 1st tickets just now, but they are closed.

Yes, it's your access to all booked areas. Have a look on the back it should have TRIBUNE, CLUB & 5 + 3 marked on it. All this will all apparently mean something to the Frenchman checking tickets.
I have already rung Brian about this and he confirmed that CLUB means you get access to the paddock.

Bit boring, but useful if nobody else has mentioned it. In my experience ordinary 'skewer' tent pegs are completely useless on the Le Mans campsites I have been on.
You need to get a set of titanium pointed ground anchors and a pile driver to attempt to pierce the hardest point of the earths crust.

(hard ground tent pegs available for all good camping shops)

you should also have the camping pass + holder that you need to stick to the car's windscreen
