Bon voyage Chris (and Mrs Jury and the twins) - maybe we'll meet up again somewhere.
Good luck with the move Chris, pity we wont be able to see the finished article on a Northern meet any time soon, but your resto really is coming together now for probably less than most pay for a replacement Porsche panel - a great project and a credit to you
Thanks guys,

Plan is to be finished for CLM 2010 and a cross-european shake down test. At least I don't need to worry about booking the ferry :)

Eventually got round to start cutting and polishiing the paint, still abit experimental but the results are starting to look good...

...also found a well stocked Würth shop on the way to work which is handy

Still need to use the finer paste but so far I'm pleased. Will try and do the other side tomorrow, so long as I can get around the German rules of making a noise on Sunday.

On a side note. I wanted to paint the garage floor of our rented house but the paint system in Germany is expensive so decided to go to the local homewares discount shop and picked up a large off-cut of Lino. I know its not as durable as an epoxy paint etc but as a short term solution is fine. The faux Parkett adds a touch of class not to mention the cheap quality P.V.C certainly reflects the light!

Amazing the difference a floor surface makes :) Wipe clean as well!

A world away from the carnage that is my garage at present.

Been thinking about graphics and details...

Initially I thought of doing something like Sladey's or Mike's (mycar) stripes...

Image

Image

Or something abit different, maybe like the early Gmund race cars...

Image

Though I think I am going to stick with my original idea of just having an RAF (mod style) roundel on the bonnet corner and maybe repeat it on the decklid. I think this with a hood crest decal will be simple and clean...

Image

I do like the idea of keeping the dot/circle theme going. I think it might be abit too much down the side but I really like how it looks on the decklid. Currently the car will be badged PROTOTYP R (german spelling of prototype) in an outline Porsche typeface.....

Image

Just an idea, but maybe I'll be brave enough to drill out the pattern?????

Found this Tartan the last time I was in asia with work. I managed to get enough to do the seat centres.....in my opinion you can't go wrong with grey, with some orange details

Thanks

Paint looks great. I see you have a center exit exhaust on your other 912. Can you tell me about that? I was thinking about some sort of sport exhaust for my 68 912. Thanks and keep on posting.

The exhaust on my red car is stock, I simply cut a slot in the panel and got hold of some lengths of stainless. The panel needs replacing so I thought I would give it a go. I think the 356 sports exhaust would exit below the panel on a 912, so no need for cutting.

My exhaust now sounds alittle bit more throaty though I doubt there is any performance gain. Here is the link to the work :)
