Interesting, I had to/wished I could move my door forward 2mm after fitting tight as I could the new Dansk front wing yet the original wing was a good gap fit to the door.
I managed to squueezzz another 1mm or so but still too gappy for me.

On both sides and hoping to find another mm this winter. The limit is the tightness of the wing to the screen lower scuttle.

Easiest fix is to lead the leading edge of the door and file carefully.

If it helps, back in '88 when I bought my rear 1/4's from Porsche (73 wings) there were gentle ripples in mine too....

Quarters are now both screwed in position. Top edge will move in a little more once cut in but the gaps and overall width to the engine lid are OK. Never really expected that bottom corner to actually line up!



The profile on the RHS of the lid is a bit off, but a gentle tweak will bring it back.

Even Porsche OE to OE panels don’t always line up. Little cutting and tweaking going to be needed on the quarter.



I’ve done the same repair to the inner wing under the wing support on the other side today. Goal tomorrow is to finalise (within reason) the outers and get it back on its side to prep the cavities, refit the seat mounts and get the floor welded on.

That’s a short sentence and lots of hours, so let’s see how that goes!

I experienced the same problems with OPC sills - and everything needs a bit of fettling

In '89 my Dansk outer sills were 10mm out on one side and 5 on the other.
I also fitted their door skins and OPC rear wings, a real box of frogs to align, the rear wings just dropped into place a dream.

I expect the Dansk parts are much better today.

Will you just tack weld the floor etc before going to Barry and the Cellette?

Barry says the 1/4s are all like that. Sills are the correct bit!

I’ve permission to fully weld the floor other than the back edge so that’s the next big job after cleaning and painting all the cavities and refitting the seat mounts. I’d planned to do that today, but in the 3 hours I had only I managed to rebuild the B pillar where it joins the 1/4 and make a trim mounting bracket!

My compressor also blew a head gasket which is an arse!

So another afternoon and nothing to show for it! Still cleaning and fettling around the edges.

The floor is now off again and the car on its side for access, but as is the way you find more areas to sort, clean and adjust before you can crack on!

I’ve now welded the two halves of the floor together:

And drilled lots and lots of holes:


Both seat mounts are also welded back in and the floor is cut to fit all round.

Next job is to clean the inside of the tunnel and footwell before welding it all in place!

Barry will probably cut a small section back out again to access the torsion bar reinforcements, but it’s better the main floor is all in place as I hadn’t realised just how long it was going to take!

Getting closer now

Floor going back on will be a major milestone.
Next weekend!

Had an afternoon off so final prep and out with the paint!



I’ll give it a little bit of a tidy up where the epoxy has gone over the flanges then weld through prime, then practice plug welding tomorrow Probably get the hang of it by the time I’ve done No. 150...
