If you are sucking… it’s actually atmospheric pressure pushing the fluid in and that is a limited amount of pressure. Flow is a combination of cross section of the pipe and the pressure differential. Downstream of the pump, you can generate higher pressure and therefore more flow.

A few of us met up for a drive and some food in Aberfoyle. The hills of the Trossachs looked fantastic.

Pressure will fall while flowing through a narrow pipe due to Bernouilli's principle, so the effect it has is to give you higher pressure before the pipe and lower pressure after the pipe. If you're sucking through the pipe, a narrow pipe will give you slower flow, more vacuum after the pipe and less of a reduction in pressure before the pipe, than you would have if the pipe were wider.

Next I've stupidity been running my oil pumps small hose suction to large hose out. Google said to do it the other way and it was so much quicker. I thought the small hose would mean higher pressure which would flow quicker to the lower pressure side but clearly not. Can some explain why?

Drove up to Belstone on Dartmoor for lunch at the Tors Inn with my old mate Clive Househam, former owner/publisher of both 911 & Porsche World and Classic Porsche magazines. We've been friends for 48 years now so I've forgiven him for buying an MX-5... No idea who owned the Skoda, but shows how cars have grown over the years.

Adjusted the gearshifter almost there now. Not quite as smooth going from 5th to 4th but much better. Has anyone tried a Tangerine Shifter kit?

Replaced the burnt-out face on my oil temperature and pressure gauge. It's not perfect but it's a fuckload better than it was.

I went to see Deano's Targa before it went off to get painted. Attention to details is brilliant; spotwelds in all the right places. Just choose that blue wisely.

Hi All
Not strictly today, but last week I managed to get the 550 ‘rep’ in for a quick rolling road tune, not looking for bragging rights or power figures (I can’t help feeling at only a thousand miles I can’t take hearing it screaming at its rev limit), simply after sorting out a flat spot or two…
Goes without saying it’s all ticket-boo now!

Very little, just a good clean up of the idle jets and tweak here and there…
Runs smoother now, with a little less popping but still very loud (which is nice)!

Cut a new PB at Prescott today in the Lola.

Was 46.29, now 45.49

Ran the hill in 2 gears!

Did a PB also at Castle Combe, 68.24 vs 68.50 last year, and a class win.

Car going great after the gearbox failure, 3 class wins in the bounce. Updated paddle clutch slightly odd on the release, but I haven’t got the will to swap back now!
