Cam tool looks good I could have lent you the rod and chain supports the other day, but they aren’t the hardest thing to make.

The cam tool was a bit of a challenge mainly due to the limited tools I have esp for the lathe, but got there in the end. fits really well, such precision is not normal service...

Made the supports last time I did the engine, but goodness knows where they are.

Planed the cupping off these old rafter offcuts flat enough to glue and screw.

Yes, the garage is as messy as ever. I'm still working that... The missis says nobody can make a mess quite like me.

The final product...

Standard ramps won't go under the 3.2, it's so low. The exhaust and rear bumpers JUST fit over these.

I need to add some stops to prevent me driving off the back.

I'm not going to claim it's spacious or even comfortable under there. But I was at least able to replace the throttle transmission crank bushings.

Driving without heat has become less practical over recent weeks so I investigated the backdated heater installation.

These levers spring back down as soon as you pull them up, which I suspected had something to do with it. I don't know whether the 20 washers come as standard but a tighten of the nuts stiffened the levers up a bit and now vaguely warm air does at least clear the screen.

The pipes in the engine bay are on. They connect to the heat exchangers, the heat exchangers connect to the sill pipes, and the valves there work. Any further ideas why the heater would not be hotter?

You need to follow the tubes further for a start, from the front of the sills to the heater box. Then check the controls on the dash actuate the flaps on the heater box correctly, the stiff single piano wire links can plip and the controls do nothing but move .
The linkage is quite complicated to follow.
While you are there check the fan selection too on the dash slider.

Of course I'm assuming the 'seal' between the exhaust pipes and the heat exchange boxes are good. If corroded/gappy you will loose a lot of heat.

Does you engine have the auxillary fan on top of it, can't remember what engine you have. If so something else to check.

It's a 3.2 but backdated heater, so no heater fan on top of the engine.

By a stroke of good fortune I managed to buy an almost perfect Hazet Tourist tool kit for my 356C from Poznan yesterday. It arrived 9.30am this morning via UPS. I’m delighted with it.

Lovely tool kit. I never got the tool kit thing until I started assembling one. It feels a bit like collecting football cards in the playground.

German cars and Leicas were sold with all sorts of add ons that it’s fun to collect. I’ve always wanted one of these, so delighted to have this one. Definitely good to have an original took kit for your car.
