Been having some fresh thoughts about the finished colour scheme - helped by our favourite artist
Sort of drifting away from this

Any thoughts? (Just to be clear though we're not voting ;) )

My non-vote would also be for the middle one.

Still like the top, but slate grey is 'sooooooo last year dahling'.

Bottom one leaves me cold.

So three non-votes in this non-poll then!

I'm not sure what it's called but it's the one on old 356s - aquamarineblau or summat? I'll dig out a pic

I've seen it before on a few 356s and the odd 911, but seeing it here the other day reminded me how much I like it

Also made a bit more progress over the weekend. I fitted the other coilover shock absorber on the Saturday - can't wait to try them out.

Sunday I started on the lower wing bit I'd cut off - the bit behind the door

This is what I started with
Image
And this is the good side! If you turn it over the back is in a pretty poor state. The line I've scribed is where I decided to cut it off and replace the metal

So start with a plain sheet of steel and a home made metal folder
Image

To get this
Image

Then used a file that was the right width for the next flange and folded it over that
Image

Which along with a bit of freehand bending got me to this
Image

Bit more shaping
Image

And we got to this
Image

And then this
Image

Das' right boy - no hole! That's my signature that is.

When I welded it up though, part of the join is standing a bit proud. You think it's going so well and then that buggers it up. That was a good moment to walk away from it. I'll sort it somehow but after feeling pleased with the progress it brings you down to size when this sort of gotcha catches you out. As I push it back in its going to crack the weld so I'll have to re-repair that bit. Anyhoo, it is moving forward a bit at a time, and next time I'll take more time to make sure the join site exactly right before I tack anything.

Maroon stripe is more radical, cool and individual.

But I think the grey is the dogs.

Don't worry that its suddenly a popular colour, its not. When did you last see one.

Then think when did you last see one and not think that's fuckin gorgeous...

Blue and white or blue and silver is not very unique...see it a lot. Look you even have a pic of another one...
