Hi there Disco, thanks so much for asking. Sorry there hasn't been much updating over the New Year, been pretty much bogged
down with boring detail work but a couple of exciting bits just round the corner.
The final metal work is just taking shape at Sportwagen in the form of the rear bumpers. The prototype ran the ST style set up
of original rear quarter bumpers flared out to the extended wheel arch, but with the lower mounting bracket for the rear panel
cut off to allow for the megaphones, and the original rear panel has to be modified with a new lower fixing point and cut outs
for the exhaust exit pipes.
We were going to use my existing extended rear bumpers but on blasting them found they had been really badly made and
finished with a shed load of bondo, so we've started again with a new standard pair from Porsche. James, another of Bruce's top
men has been on the case flaring out the bumpers, but as there will be no overriders I decided to cap off the ends, stupid really
when every period photo of ST's and the prototype car show them open!
As so often with this project it's a question of trial and error, and this was an error as on fitting up it didn't look right so poor
James had to cut them off again, you can see on his picture third from the left below, where they were capped and also where
the bottom has been reshaped now the bracket has gone.
On the engine side, the 'first service' is complete and the engine is just waiting to go back on the dyno for it's last test with it's
new dizzy. Two years in the making the distributor is really special and a one off, so can't wait to see if it actually works. It will
be revealed in all it's glory shortly.....
While dealing with the dizzy electrics changed the cdi boxes back from the 6 pin system we were using to the more period
correct 3 pin pair, here they are just back from Tim who kindly reconditioned them over Christmas for me, might have gone
over the top with the photography though
