Fitted a new battery as the old one had fried, took it for a run. MOT booked (haven’t bothered this year so far!) ready to bring it to the swapmeet

Went to the last Scramble of 2021 in the 911, last real run before storage.
Flew down the motorways under dull skies, wonderful event and reduced crowds so much better for it. Despite traffic, zoooomed back without being hassled by bald headed Range Rover Sport 'drivers' bulldozing down the roads.
Visit report elsewhere on here.
Lots of Porsches, all shapes, many DDK cars too, outnumbered every other make there.

Well weren't given times on the training day I attended but Mrs B clocked me in the 914 at 85-88. When I did my first practice session I saw 86.5ish which seemed reasonable. My best run was low 85 but I really struggled to correlate how I feel the run went with the time. One run in particular I think I had mashed 84 and it was a 87. Maybe, this will come with more experience.

Good going Neil.
My second ever event (1990) was there.
It is a tricky track and deceptive, they all are.
Pity you have this under your belt now and not earlier in the year, almost everything is closing down now until 2022.
But, #1 done
Plan for next year and I would really say join a Championship that suits you, the car, and The Wife.
That will give you a very real focus and more than one target to aim at.
But, all home in one piece, excellent!

I got a new mot for the 911 today and so started to look back at the mot history.
Overall I have done 75513 miles in it over the last 15 years averaging a bit over 5,000 miles a year, however last year I only did a bit over 2,000 and the previous year just over 1,000 miles.
It seems that age might be creeping up on me.
I tell myself that it is all down to the pandemic but it also might be that I quite like driving the Prius!

That's still pretty good Jason - I bet not many on here have done 75k+ miles in a 911 !!

It's a pity KS is not still at the helm of Classic Porsche - your ownership of/travels in your Targa would have made a good read ...

I've done about 75K in mine but over 30 years.
First 14 years was 3K every year as I used it for hillclimbs (drove there, did it, drove home)
Certainly 'softer' modern cars take the appetite away, esp the Boxster in my case.
The run to the Bicester Scramble yesterday re-kindled my lust for the car, but it is about to go into winter storage. Done some good miles this year though.
I bared all my 32 years a few years ago, about time for another Big Story Jason!

It certainly would have made a great story – even though I never seem to keep cars for very long (a bit like you...

), I do enjoy reading tales of longterm ownership.
As for the first part of your reply... It is indeed.
