It's not so bad. I've got the following bits stashed away (although not yet refurbed in most cases):
Rear wiper wiring (not the mechanism, unfortunately)
A pair of deep 6s and tyres
Some standard length wheel studs
A pair of "comfort" Recaros, needing refurb. In fact I have 3 sets of these, not quite sure how that happened...

A 400mm leather steering wheel
No batwing horn push - sold mine a few weeks ago. That will teach me.
A pair of H1 headlights (RHD lenses). I have a lovely set of these, bought from John Audette in the US. Probably more effective overall than Biodes, but only 10% as cool.
The original Koni struts (need refurb)

No spare shed, though. Surely some of my children should be leaving home soon, will just use their rooms I think.

More interestingly, I've made further progress on suspension, brakes and steering. This pic shows a fair proportion of the front end ready to assemble and bolt on. Again, much of the component refurb was done by Fenn Lane - they made a particularly nice job of the steering rack. Thanks Chris et al.

Front brake caliper refurb by PMB in the States: http://www.pmbperformance.com/lwb-early-911-brakes.html. They are the 69-ish to 72-ish aluminium versions. I like them - one of the signature parts for that era of car.

Have also decided to stick to the plan and build the car I want. Re-Claptonising can be somebody else's problem.

I bought the cores in the US, and PMB had a good reputation. Since then I've learned there are plenty of folks over here who will do a good job on calipers.

Shouldn’t there be a bit of copper grease on those handbrake parts....I know it makes them look messy but it’s all in a good cause....

Mr Parr, I fear you have misunderstood my intentions. Grease is terribly mucky stuff. Driving the car would also get it dirty. Much better to just keep it in the garage.

More seriously - thanks, noted, will do. All this suspension and brake stuff was intended to be dry run to make sure it all fits (and find out which little bits I'm missing), but some of it was such a pain in the backside that I've now no intention of taking it off again, unless absolutely necessary. While wrestling with the trailing arms (new top bushes), trying to get them into their location points, I phoned a friend. His advice: "bigger hammer". In the end I went with ratchet straps, the most useful tool known to man. And a bigger hammer.

I also need to remember which bolts I have torqued up and which I haven't... what a muppet. When the car is on its wheels, so the parts are loaded fairly realistically, a methodical run through of every bolt would seem to be in order. Maybe even time to get the yellow paint pen out.

Should also say, Mr Parr - it's mostly your fault I'm skinning my knuckles and my children are learning new swear words. When I embarked on this, I had no intention of reassembling the car myself. Being a muppet, I was pretty sure I would bash it with something, set it on fire, spill brake fluid all over the paint, etc. Even the epic thread of our very own have-a-go-hero, Rich Murphy, didn't inspire me. More scared me off.
But somehow I came away from a chat with you thinking "how hard could it be?".... Hmmmm....

Great progress Richard, keep going. Well done for ignoring all that Clapton nonsense and sticking to your original plan.
