Exciting times.
Took the speedster over to my local garage yesterday. I spent a really enjoyable day drinking coffee and talking and it only took 4 hours to remove the 3.2 engine and gearbox.
So this morning the car was pushed around to LA Custom coating for a full body message and paint. Also have several boxes of bits to coat. The engine is being stripped so we can powder coat the engine tin and body colour other parts etc

Fat boy leaving mine on Friday;

Progress this week a little slow. Took 17 pieces off for powder coating only 1 was completed. Also no progress on the body prep/ paint.

So space saver done in the same colour at the wheels. Should get the tyre back on next week

Fingers crossed the rest of the powder coating is done soon and the guys get a flying start to the body prep

Step by step progress looking good. Gaps are looking really good and the doors are perfectly flush

The top edge of the lip is going to be radiused off after the rim is equal, does that make sense?

So another great step forward. First application of block filler.
Now its all one colour this is the first chance I have had to really have a good look at the curves and body shape. The curves have always been masked by different filler colours etc. Must say given the massive departure from the stock look, I am really excited with the ST/RS/RSR wide look.

Especially pleased with the door fit, gaps and function;

Apparently should be into primer next week :)

14 days self isolation should be perfect to get it all back together.

So took a welcome break from the Chinese flu madness and went over to the spray shop. The guys have coated underneath, bonnet area, inside the doors, rear seating area with a heavy duty bed liner. The idea is to provide a micro blister water proof coating which also helps with sound deadening.

The first primer coat has been applied in semi-gloss black. In the flesh the colour really does not work. In the pictures it actually looks ok. Fortunately black is not the final colour

The next stage is to improve the fit and look of the hardtop. A neoprene waterproof gasket is being applied between the top and body and then the hardtop will be messaged to fit to prevent any rubbing.
