Enjoyed a trackday!

Had a great time at Wiscombe hillclimb yesterday, double driving JWhillracer's 914/6 while my 914 is in the workshop.

Previous best at Wiscombe (my first ever event) was 55.9, so was pleased when the first run was another 55.9. Second run I started in third gear (oops), necessitating a rapid downshift into second. That netted a 53.9. Third run was a better 53.4 but then managed to get it all together on the final run with a 51.9 – a full four seconds quicker than the first run of the day. Jonathan ran 52.1, 51.6, 51.2 and 51.0.

Can't thank Jonathan enough for giving me the opportunity to drive his 914/6 - 2.4-litre motor and all... Made me realise how crap the brakes are on mine, and how much more torque the 'six' has compared to the 'four'.

My final run is c7h 52, first day out on brand spanking new slicks, so a bit to learn and still off my PB by 3/4 second but much less than perfect conditions. 4th of 12 or so in my class, so was pleased overall for the ‘hairdressers edition’ 2.5 against some pretty amazing machinery on road legal tyres

Came over several times to find you Wayne, but you were missing!
The off's were thick and fast in places some some heavy but all-in-all a good weekend.
Getting into slicks is not easy...
The Porsche 911 that hit the top Esse was badly damaged so a reminder of the risks.

The Porsche group was a great selection, the 924 Turbo was a beauty, the R equally so and Boxsters galore with dramatic colours, a real treat, there must have been 40 Porsches all over the place?

Paul was as fierce as ever!

Wow! Impressive. By way of contrast, there were two Porsche at Wiscombe: JWhillracer/me in 914/6, and a 964 C2...

Sorry I missed you Graham apart from the good luck wave! Car looked and sounded great as always.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it Keith. It's always good to get some feedback on my cars from someone else.
I had hoped to crack the 50 second mark on Sunday, as I shook off some of my rustiness, but didn't quite, finishing with a best of 50.37.
Hoping to have the 911 back for the National meeting at the end of July ............... fingers crossed!

If I had the £15K+ I might be tempted but I have some plans for the car that will help...

Whether it was £5k, £15k or 50K, the result would be the same. I couldn't afford it, so four cylinders it is.
