I'm of the same opinion. Zanzibar only looks really nice highly polished and in the sun.....so you are probably in the right place for it!!!mrg3.6 wrote:Nigel,Mitch wrote:And that would be my colour of choice too, lovely. Looks like a great car Martin, enjoy! But you're gonna have to take it off that island now & then .squirdan wrote:One of the launch colours that.. Very nice Martin
Initially I didn't like the Zanzibar, but it's really grown on me and seems to change from red to orange and back again depending on the lighting conditions.
Yes, I do believe an excursion in the general direction of Sepang will be on the cards
Martin
Always looks a bit naff under grey cloudy British skies.
Nice car Martin, enjoy!

Well spotted.......I'm certainly learning lots from this thread- as ever DDK is a great resource even if this particular Porsche runs on steam.squirejo wrote:And the wheels you do have are 996 gt3 mk 2 wheels painted black. So don't give them away!!
PS - I also should have looked a little more closely at the Yellow Mk2 on the ramp:

a UK car for comparison, that went on sale tail end of last week ..mk1 clubsports are now routinely £50k plus
which must leave the faster better driving mk2 GT3 looking far too cheap!

He should really move that ad to the GT3 section of Pistonheads, Dan. I, for one, totally missed it.
Anyone any ideas on production figures for GT2s?

Assuming you mean 996s: 129 UK cars, 16 club sports.
Only 16 MK2s, 3 of which are club sports.
Ask me another.

Don't suppose you still have those worthless old rsr arches ready to release yet? My 74rs project is rolling on slowly.

Re: 996 GT2 or GT3 Mk1
Thanks Sam. I didn't realise there were Mk1s & 2s. EDIT: Just received my Ultimate Buyers' Guide in the post and, indeed, the GT2 received a thorough upgrade for MY 2004.Sam wrote:Assuming you mean 996s: 129 UK cars, 16 club sports.

Martin's obviously no longer looking but have just noticed this ad should anyone else be on the lookout:

Another 20bhp, nicer wheels and a few other tweaks and the clubbie got carbon fibre bits on the spoiler.left4dead wrote:Thanks Sam. I didn't realise there were Mk1s & 2s. EDIT: Just received my Ultimate Buyers' Guide in the post and, indeed, the GT2 received a thorough upgrade for MY 2004.
I don't know where the 3 RHD Mk2 club sports are, but if one ever were to come for sale I would find the money from somewhere.
That 911V car looks good value to me. £50k doesn't get you far with an aircooled car nowadays, I expect it will soon look very cheap for the last true 911 Turbo.

Re: 996 GT2 or GT3 Mk1
I'm delighted with the Mk1 GT3, it has a raw edge that reminds me of my 72 wide-body albeit with considerably more grunt whilst the air-cooled lineage remains very much alive in the way she drives, which frankly surprised me.
After five years without a Porsche here in Singapore, I have definately made the right 'practical' decision to buy the MK1 GT3 over here rather than a GT2 back in the UK, however I suspect that the few remaining RHD drive GT2's won't hang around for too long as people realise what an incredible 'bang for your buck' they currently are, so probably an opportunity lost, but I'm certainly not complaining
PS - Would love to see some photographs of this mint GT2 MK2 in red ?

Re: 996 GT2 or GT3 Mk1
Glad you're enjoying the car, Martin. How would you describe the quality of the roads over there? I would worry here that a GT3 would be too harsh due to the appalling state of the road surfaces.

Is the red GT2 the one in the article below?Sam wrote:Johnny?RobP wrote:

Re: 996 GT2 or GT3 Mk1
Hi Steve,
Apart from the Singapore traffic, the roads are generally fine, whilst a British style 'pot-hole' would probably attract a caning.
The real killer is the car park ramps, no matter how much care I take I have been unable to avoid scraping the underside of the front bumper, so I may eventually have to invest in one of those jacking kits.
The real test will be a drive through Malaysia to the Sepang F1 track.
Love that red GT2
