CIS or MFI aside, if this car has only had two owners, it should have plenty of History which should detail when and possibly why the MFI was stripped out. It should have been serviced on a regular basis and by looking at the type of maintenance done you can see how the car was cared for. If was not satisfied with this I would walk awy. The CIS saga is a negotiating point if the seller is asking top dollar for the car.
I feel you have to check the car over fully, look at the quality of the finish/fit throughout. If you feel it is honest you should follow your instinct, any doubt walk away, there will always be another. Better that than an unbudgetted £6000 bill.
