A few months ago now, but I was asked to do a photoshoot and story for Porsche Klassik in Germany.....Said it before, but there is always someone who can take a better photo of your car than you can

Cavity-waxed the sill sections on the 924 Turbo using Bilt Hamber Dynax S50.

Thought this might be interesting for other cars because this stuff applies really really well:

The S50 aerosol had been sat in the airing cupboard for a few days to keep it nice and toasty, and I left it there until I was ready to spray it. The injection tube has a 360 degree spray tip thingy on the end but only comes ion 60 cm length as standard. Luckily, I found some alternative tube on Ebay and moved the spray nozzle and 360 deg tip onto the new tube (see bottom for tube details).

In preparation, I covered my (ridiculously yummy tartan) seats with old towels and clipped one towel high up onto the seat belt to protect the back seats. Put cardboard on the floor to capture any drips through the drain holes.

Bilt Hamber tech support suggested that I could spray in ambient temperature of 10 degrees no problem - it was 9 degrees outside where I was going to do the job, so I decided to heat the sills a little with a hair dryer first.... ideally, you would do this in a warmer environment.

Application steps (per sill box section in this case)
- kept Dynax spray can inside my jacket to keep it warm
- attached the injection tube and gave it a quick quirt to get a feel
(it atomises really impressively at the 360 degree tip, and you can hear the it hiss once it reaches the end of injection tube).
- heated the bottom inside edge of the sill with hair dryer on full blast
- tracked the heat exhaust by running my fingers along inside bottom of sill to feel the heat
- quickly wobbled the injection tube inside the sill til it reached the end (195 cm!!)
- attached nozzle to S50 can, pressed the nozzle until I could hear it come out of the tip (hiss) and slowly drew the tube out
- mopped up the puddles that drained out onto the card - it comes out looking like thin clean black oil
- once it stopped dripping, I did the other side...
- the aerosol can is huge (750 ml), and I only used a small fraction of a can for both sills (about 3 metre of box section in total).

Given the consistency of the stuff that dripped out, I would suggest that you could use it at even lower temperatures and it would still get into the seams (once of the main advantages of this stuff is that it gets into the seams too).

Used this Ebay plastic pipe as the injection hose: Valpar 3/16" Outside Diameter Clear Beer Line / MDPE Pipe (4.8mm OD 3mm ID) - UK £3.50 delivered for 4 metres length
