I'm never keen on special items being posted and even less so after UPS 'misplaced' a rather important package for 6 weeks at the beginning of the year, however today Christmas truly did come early :) .....

Image

....I commissioned this MFI pump two and a half years ago and was due to collect it from SF summer last year until world events got it way.....I'd been waiting until the US opened up and was keen to coordinate a family visit (and pump collection) to North California once it had but circumstances made that difficult......last ditch I seriously considered a Tues out-Wed back flight to San Francisco to collect, it could have been done for not much more than the shipping cost although seemed a bit extreme......last call I allowed Gus to persuade me to ship the package.......with bloody UPS! :?

Fortunately all went smoothly and what a Christmas present it is! 8)

One of the most important and crucial items of this build, this MFI pump from the MFI Guru that is Gus Pfister at Pacific Fuel Injection Inc will soon be helping the engine hit 300HP+ :)

A legend and wonderful to deal with, huge thanks Gus :salute:

Happy days :)

S San Francisco ("The Industrial City"). Must be a short taxi ride from the airport... But UPS does seem like the sensible option, TBH.
Glad it arrived OK. The stash of lovely bits is looking impressive, as usual with your builds Darren!

"Regarding the question I had about the compatibility, etc. of the 73' 2.7 RS MFI pump 019 and the 005, per Gus, these are vastly different with the 019 using a wider space-cam and too many other internal differences to even begin to mention. THE 2.7 RS MFI PUMP 019 WILL NOT WORK TO A CORRECT RSR PUMP CONVERSION

This 005 pump would be ideal for someone needing the correct parts for a 1969 911S restoration. By the way, if you need a 911 RSR MFI pump, this is the 'choice' MFI pump for a 911 RSR pump recreation. The 69' 911S MFI pump was at the time, and today the "high-performance" pump required for the RSR conversion"

.....I'm pretty sure Gus uses an early pump as the core for all his RSR builds although he did build me a similar 'race look' 2.7/2.58RS pump based on a later 2.4 unit for a stillborn project that remains on the shelf.....

For those that may be interested, note this is not an RSR spec pump.

A couple of years back I planned to build a homeage to the 2.7 twin-plug development engines mentioned in the Starkey book, one of which was reportedly fitted to the Zasada car. Having an early 2.4E engine with 5R/7R cases as a base the timing worked and thought it would be a fun project.

The plan was a 2.7 twin-plug engine with small fan, high butterflies and a racing pump and with a future visit planned to North California I commissioned Gus at PFI to build me a suitable MFI pump. Unfortunately this project stalled but I acquired the pump anyway.

This pump is unique and basically a 2.7RS spec pump with a racing pump look built to work with RS cams. It will also work perfectly if using 2.8 barrels and pistons. I have the spec sheet and also video of the pump on Gus's test bed. A piece of art from the master imo 8)

I'd still quite like to build this engine and try it the Mongrel and would happily consider splitting my 2.4E engine and sell off the complete MFI induction if anyone is interested. If not the pump is ready to bolt on and saves a two year wait...

Cheers,
Gus is truly a master of his art, no doubt one of the best around and a legend imo 8)

Cheers guys,
IanM

Look at the number on the riveted plate at the top. It's the last three digits.

By the way, what make is that tractor?

An old post, I know, but... (at least on mere T/E/S models) I understand the rear wheels were moved back in their arches as part of the change to LWB.
