Worked out it’s a great heated plate for my fish and chips!!!!!!!!!
Made the most of a sunny afternoon that wasn’t forecast to do Latham and then back over Caton for a chippy tea a time Settle.

My first 911 was a brand new 87 supersport cabriolet with a full tail etc.- it was great for picnics at Ascot!

Yesterday did a 450 mile trip in all weathers to see my Dad in Hampshire. All at no more than 3000 revs (works nicely as it was 75mph ish) so phase 1 of running in the engine complete.

However, I was reflecting on the gear-change not being so clever and approaching Oxford in traffic I noticed the clutch pedal not fully returning. I was then faced with the keep going or return dilemma. All being well on the move, I decided to keep going and hope there were no hold ups....

It got worse, so I stopped off at my best mate’s house and put it on the ramp and we bled the clutch - no improvement at all, very odd.



Good opportunity for a snap or two of 3 generations of Porsche....



I continued on, unable to get first or reverse with the engine running and some Geoff Cape changes up the box. Made the 200 mile return trip with no more than 10 gear changes....

So a job for this week to investigate. There must be a failing cylinder or a slight weep on one of the new joints, as the whole circuit is new and was power bled 2 weeks ago and fine.

Wayne .. if you check some of my recent posts on my 964 you’ll see I’ve had clutch pedal issues too ... now resolved.

James P - thanks, it really wants to go. It drives so nicely I’m totally amazed how good it is. Am struggling a bit to get comfortable on a long journey but it is incredibly capable. Having done 550 miles at 3k revs I took it to 4K on the way back from the Indian to ensure it didn’t get cold and it just starts to come alive, so am looking forward to getting the next 500 out of the way before I can give it some more (these are my self imposed limits by the way). It certainly got plenty of attention on the road, and the shy and retiring colour seemed to invite people in interesting cars to try and provoke a race (whom we’re all clearly disappointed!)

James - thank you, had forgotten about that. I was set to order a m/c tomorrow as it is the one ‘old’ part in the system, but will check the pin first. Much appreciated

‘As retired’ is a closer description JW, but it does move under it’s own steam!

James - sadly the pin is perfect on the 964, so think I will order a master cylinder today to try and restore the clutch....
