Ha, this is too nice to drive as a road car Paul. Have never had a non competition Porsche in the road so liking the relative quiet and comfort. Must be getting old....

On that, went for a night drive to fill up with juice and came home via the dark lanes to see if the lights are as bad as everyone makes out (and if my bespectacled eyes are up to them!). Actually they’re ok

Did you read all the comments? Jeez, I thought the days of everyone regarding Porsche owners as knobs had passed. Clearly not!

After changing points, condenser and putting new fuel in the problem was still there. I decided to found Jack Staggs advice and remove the leads out from the distributor cap one by one. The RPM didn't change when I removed no 1 but it was still sparking. Then removed the lead from the plug and checked it was sparking on the metalware. Fitted a new plug. Saw the rpm did not react to no 1 being removed.

However, the car still wasn't running right. I had installed the points with too tight a gap. I backed it off and it was running nicely again.

I think I've got a leak from my oil filter cannister. Not the threads but the actual cannister. Anyone had that before?

With the new tyres fitted I have been putting some miles on the engine. Keeping to 3k revs for now so only tickling it, but it’s fantastic to drive. Despite being fairly low with the RS geo and ride height it is remarkably comfortable to drive

I did about 80 miles today with no particular place to go, all back lanes plodding and getting to know the car

I don’t think they were particularly anti-Porsche - some people are just looking to get angry at something - they are the ones commenting
